THE BODY OF CHRIST 12
COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT OF DIVERSITY (CONT’D)
Again, I say, no individual member of the body can make up the church by themselves–they are not the church, they are a part of the church. By reason of this, it is practically a taboo for any Christian believer to forsake the gathering together, assembling together or fellowship with other believers (Hebrews 10:25). The life supplies from and in Christ cannot reach any believer who is in isolation. Being united by the Holy Ghost in Christ ensures we interpenetrate one another, also sharing with one another the full contents of all the life supplies we receive from the Lord as we commune with Him individually.
This level of engagement ensures we bond so peacefully on a deep level, so much so that we feel one another’s spiritual pulse. We connect at a depth that transcends anything of human nature–race, tribe, creed, culture, social standing, feelings, biases, prejudices, self-focus etc. and transact with a common currency called God’s love. We care genuinely for one another, to the point we share one another’s burdens, passions, pain, and victories. So that if one of us suffers, we all suffer with them just like if a small toe is injured, it is the whole body that bears the pain. And if one of us wins, we all genuinely share in their joy without envy, resentment or bitterness.
When there is more division than peaceful bonding among us, with no love demonstrated through sacrifice as each of us is on their own; and there are only a few of us who are well-off while many of us are suffering alone, what we have is church in principle but not in practice. And when we have church only in principle, we only have form without substance, which is tantamount to a lifeless, decrepit, putrid religion incapable of witnessing to the resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ!
