*OGBA PARAMOUNT RULERS VEXED OVER GOVT NEGLECT & MARGINALIZATION*
The Paramount Rulers of Ogba Kingdom, otherwise called the Ochi Ohnas of Ogba Kingdom in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA has expressed their displeasure over government neglect and marginalization on sundry issues despite their huge contribution to the peace, progress and development in the state.
The Paramount Rulers were seriously vexed over gross neglect and marginalization by past and present government on sundry issues concerning their welfare particular on recognition and classification of Ogba traditional Rulers.
Speaking in her first quarterly Conference held in Ohiauga town on Sunday 9th March 2025, the Chairman of the Ogba Paramount Rulers Forum and the Paramount Ruler of Ohiauga Community, HRH Amb. Dr. Bright Abali while declaring the conference opened said the Rivers State Government is joking with the loyalty and support of the Paramount Rulers of Ogbaland. Abali said despite the huge contribution of Ogba kingdom in the oil & gas sector which is sustaining govt at all level in Nigeria, the Federal and state government has refused to take the affairs of Ogba people serious. Eze Bright Abali said "it is embarrassing to hear that none of the Paramount Rulers of the 65 Communities of Ogba kingdom is recognized or classified, not even the least third class. This is quite unfair". Abali also pointed out that two Clan heads of Ogbaland, namely Eze Igburu and Eze Usomini stools are long overdue to be upgraded to first class just like govt did in other Kingdoms of Rivers State. He highlighted that Ogba kingdom have less than seven classified traditional stools and only two incumbent is recognized by the state at present, five other stools are presently waiting for recognition of the incumbent or presentation of staff of office by the Governor. The statistic shows that Ogba Kingdom Traditional Rulers are the least classified and recognized in the state.
On Commencement of the conference, the Paramount Rulers took time to eulogize the Oba of Ogbaland, His Eminence, Barr. Nwachukwu Obuohna Obi III, The Oba, Eze Oba of Ogbaland, the natural Leader of Ogba Ethnic Nationality for his vision in uniting the communities and clans of Ogbaland.
In their separate speeches, the four clan Chairmen of Ogba Paramount Rulers Forum, HRH Eze Michael Olowu, Ochi Oha Obohia and Chairman of Omoku City Ochi Ohas, HRH Eze Isaac Umah, Ochi Oha Ede and Chairman of Egi Clan Ochi Ohas, HRH Eze Christopher Chibor of Igburu Clan and HRH Christian Nkisa of Usomini Clan made solidarity speeches to reassure the Paramount Rulers of their unalloyed commitment to support the pursuit of the welfare and progress of the Paramount Rulers of Ogbaland.
The conference of Ogba Paramount Rulers after series of presentation by 52 members present resolved to continually sustain the peace in their various domains of Ogbaland, sustain existing unity of the four clans of Ogbaland and maintain the quarterly conference Meeting of the forum rotationally.
The Paramount Rulers also used the conference to draw the attention of the honourable Commissioner For Chieftaincy/Community Affairs and The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalaye Fubara to look into the appalling situation and current status of Ogba Paramount Rulers and Recognize Ogba Traditional to give Ogba Kingdom a sense of belonging in the affairs of the State, as Ogba Kingdom is embarrassingly the least by Rivers State Govt.
High points of the event include solemn prayers by the Paramount Rulers for their wellbeing and visitation to the oldest man in Ohiauga/Igburu Pa Godfrey Igwela who prayed for all-round blessings for the Paramount Rulers.
