BTO for PBAT 2027 Backs Minister Tunji-Ojo, Urges Him to Ignore Distractions

A prominent political support group, BTO for PBAT 2027, has thrown its weight behind the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, following recent reports questioning the authenticity of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service year.

It would be recalled that Premium Times had in 2023 reportedly written to the NYSC seeking confirmation of Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s service record. In its response, the NYSC affirmed that the Minister was duly mobilized and fulfilled the necessary requirements.

Addressing a press conference in Akure on Saturday, the spokesperson of BTO for PBAT 2027, Folajimi Adewumi, described the renewed conversation around the issue as “a cheap and calculated distraction aimed at tarnishing the image of a performing Minister.”

According to Adewumi, “Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has become the face of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration because of his excellent delivery and innovative reforms at the Ministry of Interior. His rising profile has made him a target for those who feel threatened by his performance.”

He further stated that the group stands solidly behind the Minister and urged him to remain focused on delivering on his mandate rather than paying attention to political detractors.

“We want to clearly state that Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has our total support. Nigerians can see the transformation he has brought to the Ministry of Interior. We urge him not to be distracted by naysayers but to continue his good work for the progress of the nation,” Adewumi said.

The group also called on Nigerians to disregard any politically motivated attempts to smear the reputation of the Minister, stressing that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs committed and result-driven public servants like him to drive its Renewed Hope Agenda.

The group reaffirmed its support for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed confidence in Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s continued contribution to the administration’s vision.
