This is probably the most emotionally charged content we have shot at Ifenkili Studio One, but then we had issues with sound and the whole project went to waste.

This clip is the only piece we could retrieve from it. We would probably reshoot it cos it bears a very serious social commentary as regards paternity fraud, its cause and possible consequence.

Till we are able to come up with the full video, please watch and tell us what you think about Uju Ezeh's performance.

4 Ways to Know If You’re Truly Talented in Acting:

It is not everyone who loves acting that's naturally gifted at it, but real talent always leaves clues that makes it standout from the crowd.

If you’re unsure whether you’ve got the talent, here are five honest ways to know for sure:

1). You Naturally Feel and Express Emotions Deeply:

It is no news that a convincing emotional depiction is the core ingredient in acting. So if you as an actor you are able to feel emotions deeply, that might be your clue. If you don’t just act sadness, anger, or joy, but feel them even when they are not your own feelings, that's your clue.

2). You Lose Yourself in Characters:

You can easily step into another person’s feelings, motivations and mindset anytime without needing a prompt. And when you perform, people see the character in that moment, not you. That is a strong sign you are highly talented.

3). People React to Your Performances genuinely:

If audiences, classmates, or even random viewers are moved, laugh, or tear up when you act, that’s not just random, that is a sign that they connect with the emotion you are depicting, and it's a good sign you are talented, because the major aim of an actor is to draw an audience to relate with the emotional trappings of the character you are embodying.

4). You’re Obsessed with Improvement:

Talented actors are never satisfied. You constantly replay your performances, study other actors, and find ways to get better. If you find yourself Infront of the mirror most times trying to perfect or decide the appropriate facial expression for a particular emotion or character, this is a good sign that you have the proverbial agwu of acting lurking deep down inside you.

If all these or most of them are you, then you need no prophet to tell you that you have been called by destiny to act and entertain.

5 Key Ways to Become a Successful Filmmaker in Nigeria:

Becoming a filmmaker in Nigeria is not for the faint-hearted.

Between limited funding, distribution struggles, and audience pressure, you need more than passion to sustain your dream and career.

You need strategy, and here are five key ways to build a lasting career as a Filmmaker in Nigeria:

1). Master Storytelling:

Every great film begins with a great story. Most of the highest grossing Nollywood Films this year has great stories. TO KILL A MONKEY for instance has one of the most relevant Nigerian stories ever. Story is the core of every Film project, so make it a priority.

Learn how to write, analyze, and structure narratives that connect emotionally with the Nigerian audience. Story is your strongest weapon.

2). Start Small, but Start:

Don’t wait for millions to make your first film. Begin with what you have. Shoot short films or web series with your phone if you must. Consistency attracts investors faster than talk.

3). Collaborate with Purpose:

Team up with people who share your vision; cinematographers, editors, sound designers, and actors. Good collaboration turns low-budget ideas into quality productions. Agree on terms and possible royalties if film hits. Plan and execute the project with the team and design efficient distribution and promotions strategy to sell the Film when it's ready.

4). Understand the Business Side:

Filmmaking is both art and enterprise. Learn distribution, marketing, and audience engagement. Know how to sell your film, not just how to shoot it.

5). Stay Authentic and Updated:

Tell Nigerian stories in fresh ways while keeping up with global trends and technology. Authenticity makes your work relatable; innovation keeps it relevant.

In Nollywood, success isn’t luck, it’s the reward for vision, discipline, and relentless creativity.

5 Smart Ways to Avoid Sex-for-Roles as an upcoming star in Nollywood:

Sex-for-roles is one of Nollywood’s ugliest stains. Many talented actors, especially newcomers, face this pressure.

But the truth is, you can rise without trading your body.

Here are four practical ways to protect yourself and still grow and achieve your dreams in Nollywood as an actor in this era:

1). Join Reputable Networks:

Align with credible film schools, acting academies, and guilds (like AGN). They connect you to legitimate auditions and projects, not shady promises behind closed doors.

2). Do not be desperate to act:

It is great to pursue your passion with intensity, but know your limits. Have boundaries. Avoid the "whatever it takes" mindset. Previously we talked about having a side hustle that makes you money. Yes, it applies here too. If you do not have a backup source of income, you might be tempted to start taking roles with whatever conditions just to survive economically.

The first thing to do once you have decided to take up acting as a career, is to get a flexible source of income.

3). Build Your Own Visibility:

This can not be emphasized enough. Don’t wait for producers to “discover” you. Use social media to grow your own personal community. Post monologues, short skits, and scene recreations. These days, producers prefer to work with actors with a community of fans and followers online. When your talent is visible online, you attract genuine opportunities that respect your craft.

4). Maintain Boundaries Boldly:

Learn to say no confidently and professionally. Never meet anyone in private hotel rooms for auditions or rehearsals. If the offer isn’t transparent, walk away, cos your dignity is worth more than a role.

5). Let Your Work Speak Loudly:

Consistency and skill always outlive shortcuts. When you deliver excellence in every project, people will call you for your performance, not your body. Grow your value.

Remember: A role gotten with your dignity intact shines brighter than one bought through compromise. Sharpen you talent, become skilled and digitally valuable, and you will definitely attract genuine people who would want o partner with your value and not your body.

5 things to do so you don't give up as an Upcoming Actor in Nollywood:

The truth is, the early stages of acting in Nollywood can be frustrating.

No roles, no pay, and plenty of rejection. But if you give up too soon, you’ll never see what your talent could become.

Here are five ways to stay grounded till you finally blow:

1). Keep sharpening Your Craft:

Use the dry seasons to train. Make your mirror your partner. Draft short monologues and practice in your free time. Attend workshops, study film performances, and record short clips. Growth happens when nobody’s watching. Stay sharp and prepared for when the opportunity you are waiting for will come.

2). Create Your Own Opportunities:

Don’t wait for a producer’s call. Write your own short film, collaborate with friends, or shoot skits. The world respects those who create rather than complain. Have a cache of things you have already done by yourself no matter how amateurish it might look. Show workings. Show that you have not just been waiting for manner to fall on your laps.

3). Network with Intention:

This one can never be over-emphasized. Be present at film events, auditions, and creative meetups. Stay visible and connected. The industry runs on relationships. One good link can change everything.

4). Balance Hustle and Passion:

It’s okay to do side jobs while chasing your dream. Infact, as an upcoming actor in Nollywood, you must have a side hustle that puts survival money in your pocket. This helps you avoid been desperate for roles. Desperation gets you used. Find a side hustle that's very flexible and gives you time to work on your craft. Acting doesn’t pay daily, so let your side hustle fund your art, not distract from it.

5). Stay Mentally Grounded:

Rejection isn’t failure; it’s direction. Keep faith, stay patient, and celebrate small wins. Every great actor once felt invisible too.

Remember, the struggle phase is not punishment; it’s preparation. Your time will come. Keep showing up.

4 Things Every Actor Must Do to Truly Become Their Character:

Acting isn’t just about saying lines and performing acts, it’s about becoming another human being. Its about living their story and bringing their experiences to life.

To portray a character convincingly as an actor, you must go beyond the script and live their truth. Here are four key steps every serious actor should take before stepping on set 👇

1). Study the Script Deeply:

Read it more than once. Even when you are not the lead cast. Study the script cover to cover. This helps you get a complete view of what the story is about. This gives you information on how to relate with other characters.

Understand the story, the character’s goals, fears, and motivations. Ask “Why does my character say this?” not just “What do I say next?” The ‘why’ gives your performance a soul.

2). Research and Observe:

If your role is a police officer, pastor, or market woman, try and study these characters in real life. Watch how they talk, walk, gesture, and react. Realism comes from observation too, not imagination alone.

3). Build Emotional Memory:

Tap into your own experiences to connect emotionally. Remember moments of joy, pain, or fear that mirror your character’s emotions. It helps you perform truthfully, and not theatrically. This is the most important aspect of your role as an actor; emotional depiction.

4). Rehearse and Experiment:

Don’t wait for the director to find your rhythm. Rehearse alone or with scene partners. Try different tones, body languages, and emotions until it feels real.

Great acting isn’t pretending, it is actually living someone else's truth. When you live the role, the audience believes and relates to it.

Six Things you must do as a Nollywood Director to be Successful in the Industry today:

First, you should know that being a film director in today’s Nollywood isn’t just about calling “Action!”

It’s about vision, leadership, and adaptability, if you want to stand out and stay relevant.

Here are six key things you must focus on:

1️⃣ Master the Craft, Not Just the Title:

Study film language; camera angles, pacing, blocking, and storytelling. The best directors are students for life. Watch films critically and learn how every shot and action delivers certain emotions.

2️⃣ Build a Distinct Voice:

Nollywood is crowded. Your style must stand out. This means that your voice and storytelling format must be distinct. Whether it’s your visual tone, dialogue rhythm, or choice of theme, make your signature unmistakable so that one look at a film, an audience knows it's your making or something you can make.

3️⃣ Collaborate Intelligently:

Directing is teamwork. Respect your actors, crew, and editors. Great directors draw the best from everyone and know when to listen. Ego kills collaboration. Be humble, you are just a director not God.

4️⃣ Leverage Technology and Trends:

Stay updated with new cameras, editing tools, and digital distribution models. The world is basically streaming these days. Key into that and leverage the times.

5️⃣ Tell Stories That Matter:

Authenticity sells faster than hype. Root your films in relatable human stories, even when you go experimental. Audiences connect with truth and personal experiences.

6️⃣ Build a Brand, Not Just Films:

Let your name mean something. Use social media to share your process, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments. Directors who engage audiences build legacies, not just credits.

Do these things judiciously and you will be on your way to greatness in your career.

The Psychology of Characters and real life; Film as a reflection of reality.

It is no news that Film is a reflection of the society. This makes every character in a film a representative of a real life person.

The reason why stories or characters are relatable and familiar is because an audience sees itself in the story and in the characters.

Thinking about this, the character that comes to mind is SARO, in the film ANÍKÚLÁPÓ by Kunle Afolayan.

Saro started out as a lowly lover boy in a Romantic entanglement with a fine maiden (played by Bimbo Ademoye), till he gained supernatural powers.

Why did Saro fall for power over love? Why did a man who once chased affection suddenly crave control?

The answer is simple... In reality, most men will chose power over romance.

Glory over love.

Most men want to feel like a god, so like Saro, when they get the chance at power, they jump on it and clench tightly to it with everything they have got.

Some are even willing to do the unthinkable to maintain the power and control.

And in Saro's case, just as it is in reality, when power unexpectedly falls in the hands of someone who never imagined they'd have it, they are most likely to abuse it the way Saro did.

Kunle Afolayan did not just make a Film, he mirrored reality.

Great actors don’t just perform emotions and actions; they perform motives.

They don’t imitate life, they interpret it.

So before your next role, don’t ask, “How do I cry here?” Ask instead, “Why is he crying?”

What real life scenario is this act or Emotion depicting?

That question is what separates a mere performer from a storyteller.

🎬 Who’s that one movie character that reminds you of yourself or someone you know in real life?

Five things you must do as an Actor and aspiring star in Nigeria:

Yes, it is good to land roles and act in films, but you need to do much more than that to achieve fame and relevance.

Below are five major things you must do as an actor and aspiring star in Nigeria currently:

1. Build a Strong Personal Brand:

Your image is your currency. Define your identity, style, voice, and values, and make it consistent across all social media platforms. Audiences follow personalities, not just performances.

2. Leverage Social Media:

Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube are your stages. Post skits, behind-the-scenes clips, opinions, and relatable content that connect you to fans beyond films. Engagement builds visibility and relevance.

3. Collaborate Strategically:

Work with fellow creators, influencers, and filmmakers. Cross-audience exposure multiplies your reach and opens industry doors faster than talent alone.

4. Stay Versatile and Evolve:

Today’s actor must be more than a face, learn writing, producing, or digital storytelling. Adapt to trends and platforms; the industry rewards multi-skilled artists.

5. Maintain Professionalism and Consistency:

Punctuality, humility, and work ethic separate stars from talkers. Consistent quality work, on or off screen, keeps you relevant long after the hype fades.

If you do these five things, you'd definitely achieve success in this current Film industry.
