JOURNEY TO ABUJA: WITNESSING MY BROTHER’S CALL TO BAR.
There are trips you take for leisure, and then there are trips you take for history moments that marks milestones not just for one person, but for the entire family. Two weeks ago, I traveled to Abuja for my elder brother’s Call to Bar Ceremony, a once-in-a-lifetime event, and my first time witnessing it.
There is something special about preparing for a trip that is bigger than you; From packing my bag to booking my flight, I felt both excited and proud. Looking out of the window, at the endless sky, I couldn’t help but think about how far my brother has come; the rigorous years of study, countless sleepless nights, and now, the final step into the legal profession.
Flying into Abuja adds to the moment also, from the hum of the airport, the view of the clouds, and that feeling when the plane touches down in Nigeria’s capital city. Wow, I even got to discover that the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is not todays bird, it is so big that it accommodates both the commercial airplanes of different airlines and lots of private jet, my eyes couldn’t view it all.Abuja has a different vibe compared to other cities with its wide roads and a mix of modern architecture. It is a city where big moments unfold. And for me, this isn’t just about sightseeing, it’s about family, legacy, and being present to support someone I deeply admire.
It was moment of recognition, years of sacrifice crowned with honor watching my brother all dressed in his wig and gown. I only but could imagine the pride in my parent’s eyes, the joy in our hearts, and the sense of accomplishment radiating from him. For me, it’s not just about his success, it’s a reminder of what hard work, discipline, and resilience can achieve.
And of course, no trip is complete without experiencing the city itself. Abuja has its hidden gems viz: the sight of the A*o rock, energy of the market place and of course the food ranging from suya stand, BBQ to restaurants serving the best of Nigerian cuisine. I explored the Yellow page city, N’kitchen & event solution , and The farmer’s market
This trip wasn’t just about a milestone event; it’s about creating memories in a city that carries both personal and national significance.
While I was preparing for this journey, I knew it will be one I’ll never forget; talk about the first flight experience, the city and the ceremony, each one added to a bigger story about family, progress, and pride.
My brother’s Call to Bar is his achievement, but in a way, it belongs to all of us. It’s a reminder that success isn’t just personal; it uplifts families, inspires communities, and lights the path for those coming behind.
Above all, I carry one thing with me: GRATITUDE...
