You've probably heard that bacteria outnumber your own cells 10 to 1.
That number is actually wrong — and has been for over 50 years.

It came from a rough 1972 estimate that was never properly checked. In
2016, researchers at the Weizmann Institute recalculated it properly
and published their findings in the journal Cell. The real ratio?
Roughly 1.3 bacteria for every 1 human cell — almost a perfect
balance, not the overwhelming majority everyone assumes.
