What is Fainting?
Fainting happens when the brain does not get enough blood or oxygen for a short time. The person may suddenly collapse and lose consciousness.
Common Causes of Fainting

Hunger or low blood sugar
β
Dehydration (not drinking enough water)
β
Extreme heat
β
Fear, shock, or bad news
β
Severe pain
β
Low blood pressure
β
Certain illnesses
FIRST THINGS TO DO IF SOMEONE FAINTS
Lay the person flat on the ground.
Raise the legs slightly.
Loosen tight clothing around the neck.
Check if the person is breathing.
Allow fresh air around the person.
Turn the person on their side if they are unconscious but breathing.
Call for medical help if the person does not wake up quickly.

β Do not pour water on the person's face.
β Do not slap the person.
β Do not force food or drink into the mouth.
β Do not crowd around the person.
β Do not try to make them stand immediately.

π GO TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY IF:
β The person is pregnant.

β The person remains unconscious.
β The person has repeated fainting episodes.
