🍫 Ultimate Rich Chocolate Custard Cake

Perfect for:

Chocolate Cake Layers

Ingredients

🌾 2 cups (250g) flour

🍫 ¾ cup (75g) dark cocoa powder

🥄 2 tsp baking powder

🥄 1 tsp baking soda

🧂 ½ tsp salt

🍚 2 cups (400g) sugar

🥚 3 large eggs

🌻 ¾ cup (180ml) vegetable oil

🥛 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk

☕ 1 cup hot coffee (or hot water)

🍦 2 tsp vanilla

Method

1. Preheat oven to 170°C.
2. Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
3. Add eggs, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla.
4. Mix until smooth.
5. Slowly add hot coffee.
6. Batter will be thin, this is normal.
7. Bake in two 8-inch pans for 30–35 minutes.

This produces an ultra-moist, deep chocolate cake with a soft crumb.

2 cups butter
¾ cup vegetable oil

BLACK BUTTERCREAM HACKS. DO THEY REALLY WORK? 👀🖤

I saw bakers talking about the “melting method” for achieving deep black buttercream faster in my comment section 👀🖤

So let’s talk about it before some of you try it, make mistakes, then run back to my comments saying “it didn’t work” like it was my method you used 😩👇🏽

YES the method actually works ✅

Wait! Read to the end 👇

Here’s why:
When you slightly warm your buttercream after adding the black color, the heat helps the coloring dissolve better and deepen over time. That’s why many bakers notice their buttercream turns from grey to a richer black after resting.

But here’s the important part many people forget to mention 👇🏽

⚠️ DO NOT overheat your buttercream.
If it gets too hot, it can:
• separate,
• become oily,
• or turn too soft.

For beginners, this is the safer method I recommend 👇🏽

1️⃣ Make your buttercream normally
2️⃣ Add your black gel coloring
3️⃣ Microwave ONLY a small portion for 10–15 seconds
4️⃣ Mix it back into the full buttercream
5️⃣ Let it rest for 20–30 minutes
6️⃣ Blend or whip again

This method is much easier to control and still gives amazing results 🖤

Also…
✔️ Chocolate buttercream usually gives a deeper black faster
✔️ An immersion blender helps smooth the color beautifully
✔️ Black buttercream develops more with time, so patience matters 😅

And no… “4–5 drops” of coloring may not work for everybody 😂
It depends on:
• the brand of coloring,
• your buttercream recipe,
• and how dark your base already is.

Today, I created one of the BEST banana cake recipe I have ever made and tasted 😭🍌

This recipe was absolutely amazing, soft, rich, moist, flavorful, and so satisfying. I used banana, condensed milk, and buttermilk, and honestly… this cake came out DASHING 😍❤️ I couldn’t stop admiring and tasting it.

The only little mistake was the small hole in the middle, and I’m very sure I know what caused it 👀
I opened the oven a bit too early, and my condensed milk was VERY cold straight from the fridge. I added it directly into the batter instead of letting it come to room temperature first.

So let this be your reminder:
ALWAYS make sure your ingredients are at room temperature before baking ✔️

Aside from that tiny sink in the middle, everything else was PERFECT. The texture? Beautiful. The taste? Heavenly. The aroma? 10/10 😩🔥

This is officially one of the best banana cake recipes I’ve ever made 🍌🎂
