Let’s have an honest conversation about our industry and the entire working industry.
Many veterans spent decades working in big and reputable broadcast organizations. They built careers, earned respect, and eventually retired. That should be the stage where wisdom turns into mentorship and legacy, but what do we see happening instead?
Some retirees immediately start looking for private media firms managed by younger professionals to enter and take control of. Not to mentor! Not to support! But to sit on the throne again.
Organizations that young people built with sleepless nights, sacrifices, and years of struggle suddenly become the next place for some “retired veterans” to come and 'reign again".
And the question many young professionals are afraid to ask is this:
Are you praying for the downfall of your junior colleagues?
If you reign forever by diminishing the effort of those looking up to you, What's your gain?
If you spent 30–35 years in an industry, why not build your own platform?
Why not start something new or better still retire and relax?
Why must the dream of the younger generation become your next retirement seat?
Let’s be clear, experience is valuable💯, but experience should build the next generation, not overshadow it📌.
A true veteran creates space for others to rise.
A threatened veteran competes with the very people who once called them mentor.
Maybe it’s time the younger generation begins to ask hard questions.
Is it mentorship… or is it silent domination?
Youth are the leaders of tomorrow, if the older folks are not stepping down, when will the youth rule/lead???
