Oyewo Felicitates Osun APC Senatorial Leader, Adeoye Adelakun On 70th Birthday

The immediate past lawmaker for Osogbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo, has rejoiced with the senatorial leader of the All Progressives Congress(APC)in Osun Central, Hon Andrew Adeoye Adelakun, on his 70th birthday.

Hon. Oyewo, in a statement conveying his birthday wishes, joined members, leaders, and chieftains of the APC in celebrating the political stalwart and onetime Chairman of Osun Health Insurance Scheme(OHIS)on his 70th birthday.

The former Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Water Resources appreciated and commended the contributions of Hon. Adelakun to the political, economic and social development of Osun Central Senatorial District, setting a standard in leadership.

Oyewo further saluted the celebrant's selflessness and nobility in always placing the welfare and unity of the nation above self.

The political leader, therefore, prayed that the Almighty God will increase Adeoye Adelakun in strength, good health and wisdom to keep serving humanity.

Oyewo Lauds Tinubu Over Oyebamiji's Appointment As NIWA CEO

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Osun, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing one of the state's illustrious sons,
Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, as substantive Managing Director/CEO of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

The former lawmaker for Osogbo Federal Constituency, in a statement he personally signed and issued on Wednesday said “While I am not surprised by Alhaji Oyebamiji ’s appointment, I am thankful and indebted to the Tinubu-led Federal Government for rewarding competence, accountability, and integrity which this illustrious son of Osun has always demonstrated.

“There is hope for a renewed and rejuvenated Nigeria if leaders across the board could emulate the President in appointing only capable hands to man critical positions.

"I am particularly proud of Oyebamiji's exploits and will continue to pray for his success. Personally, I am confident that he will make giant strides as MD of NIWA.

"Oyebamiji's impressive performance during his time as Commissioner of Finance in Osun says a lot about his capacity to deliver high-quality leadership.

“I heartily congratulate the new NIWA helmsman and the leadership of the APC in Osun over this development,"Hon. Olubukola Oyewo stated.

A People's Democratic Party (PDP)stalwart in Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Hon. Abiodun Ajayi has congratulated the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adewale Egbedun for recently bagging a Rotary International Humanitarian Service Award.

The Rotary Club of Ilesa on Sunday, October 8, 2023, conferred the award on Rt. Hon. Egbedun, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Osun State and humanity in general.

In a congratulatory message on Thursday, Hon. Abiodun Ajayi lauded the outstanding contributions of the lawmaker to the attainment of a prosperous Osun.

Olubukola Oyewo Felicitates Gboyega Oyetola At 69

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Bukola Oyewo, has felicitated the immediate past Governor of Osun and Minister of Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola on the occasion of his 69th birthday anniversary.

Unpaid Entitlements:Osun State Govt Chides Legal Practitioner Over Threat

Osun State Government has urged an Oyo-based legal practitioner, Mutalabi Adebayo,SAN, to avoid "interloping activism” following his threat to drag Governor Ademola Adeleke before a court over unpaid allowances of judges in the state.

Adebayo on Thursday gave Governor Adeleke's administration a 10-day ultimatum to pay arrears of allowances owed retired and serving judges in the state or face a legal action.

The lawyer also noted that beside the arrears of outstanding allowances, he would also claim interest and aggravated damages in respect of the unpaid entitlements.

Osun State Residents Lament Gas Price Increase

The price of cooking gas has increased in Osogbo metropolis as a kilogram is now sold at the rate of 1000 naira.

The soaring price is related to the perception of retailers that the cost of 12kg will hit N18,000 before December.

Orisun Igbomina FM correspondent, Michael Leshi, reports that some residents found the increase shocking and permutate that it would cause additional hardship and further worsen the standard of living among low-income earners in Osun.

The has noted with dismay and great concern that most of the allocated shops at Ayegbaju International Market have been under locks and keys for many years, and this is viewed as a disservice to the economic growth of the State.

In this regard, the Hon. Commissioner for the State's Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, has directed that the locked allocated shops should be opened before 8th October, 2023.

Watch Video: Mohbad’s Body Exhumed From His Grave In Ikorodu

A video showing men of the Lagos State Police Command taking late singer, Mohbad’s body after it was exhumed from his grave in Ikorodu earlier today September 21, has been shared online.

The police will immediately commence an autopsy on his remains to ascertain the cause of his death. The singer died on September 12. He was 27 years old.

Ifon - Ilobu Communal Clash: Ajagunla Sues for Peace

- Commended OSSG, Police for timely intervention.

The Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi has called for calm between Ifon and Ilobu people amidst the ongoing communcal clash between the two communties.

It will be recalled that there was a report of an unrest arising from land dispute between the two communities of Ifon and Ilobu in osun central over the weekend, this brought about significant breakdown of law and order which threatened the existing peace between the people of the two communities.
Senator Ajagunla described the incident as regretable and unnecessary while calling on the elders of the two communties to seek alternate means of resolution devoid of confrontation and animosity as the best approach to settling such disagreement

"We are one irrespective of our origin or geographical boundary, as a people we must continue to love our neighbor as ourselves. Fighting amongst ourselves is not the best way to solve any differences that might have come up. I urge the leaders of Ifon and Ilobu communities to rein in on their followers to allow for peaceful resolution through progressive dialogue" Senator Ajagunla advised.

On the intervention of the osun state government directing curfew in the two affected local governments between 8pm to 6am, Senator Ajagunla commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his quick intervention in ensuring peace between the two communities while applauding the Osun State Police command for their professionalism and proactiveness in dowsing the growing tension caused by the crisis.

"I am happy that the Osun State Government under the able leadership of our amiable Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has already intervened to ensure the crisis did not escalate beyond measure, his quick action has saved the lives of innocent people in the two communities. I am also aware that the police in the state has already commenced
Investigation into the causes of the crisis and devise measure to bring lasting peace between the people of Ifon and Ilobu communities", he added.

"I hereby call on the people of Ifon and Ilobu communities to lay their grievances to the appropriate government quarters and not take laws into their own hands. I can assure that justice will surely prevail" Senator Ajagunla concluded.

Obafemi Awolowo University Adjusts Tuition Fees

The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, have adjusted the fees that students of the institution would be paying.

A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, states that for those in the Faculties of Arts, Law and Humanities , the 'freshers' will pay #151, 200 while returning students of the same faculties will pay #89,200.

For those in the Faculties of Technology and Science, the new students will pay #163, 200 and the returning students of the same faculties are to pay #101, 200.

In addition, the new students being admitted into the Faculties in the College of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Pharmacy are to pay #190, 200 ( new students) and #128, 200 ( returning students) respectively.

The decision was taken by the Senate of the University at its emergency meeting on Tuesday, 12th September, 2023.

The management, therefore, wishes the students resounding success in their academic programmes.

The above adjustable fees are just for an academic session.
