MEDIA SPOTLIGHT ON PRECIOUS BOLUWATIFE AJAYI.
Our spotlight today is on Broadcast Journalist, Blogger and On-Air Personality (OAP) at Afinju FM, Osogbo, Precious Boluwatife Ajayi.
Some careers are carefully planned. Others begin almost accidentally, sometimes from an obligation one never imagined would become a passion. For Boluwatife, broadcasting began as the latter.
To Boluwatife, broadcasting was not part of the plan. But began from a compulsory IT to a Passion.
As a 200-level university student, Boluwatife was required to complete a six-week Industrial Training placement at a television or radio station. At the time, she regarded the requirement as little more than an academic obligation, an assignment she simply had to endure to satisfy her lecturer and secure good grades.
Then came the turning point. Her placement exposed her to seasoned media professionals and, for the first time, she saw broadcasting from the inside. What had previously seemed like an ordinary profession suddenly revealed itself as a sophisticated craft, dynamic, demanding and deeply influential.
The studio, the microphone, the conversations and the confidence of experienced broadcasters gradually dismantled her initial reservations, and what started as “something I had to do” became something she genuinely wanted to do.
From Vicinity 95.3FM to Afinju 90.7FM, Boluwatife occupies multiple roles as a broadcaster, blogger and OAP. She is the host of the current affairs programmes, including News alert, and the popular Hard Punch programmes at Afinju FM. Where she examines local happenings, governance, politics and broader societal issues.
Boluwatife journalism does not end when the studio light goes off. She has also taken her reporting to the grassroots, producing special reports that examine infrastructure challenges and community realities across Osun State.
And by taking those realities to the microphone, she gives ordinary people a platform and brings issues that might otherwise remain unnoticed into public conversation.
Boluwatife Ajayi’s story is a reminder that passion does not always announce itself at the beginning of a journey. Sometimes, it is discovered along the way.
Her journey may have started with a microphone she never planned to fall in love with. Today, that microphone has become her instrument, her platform and her calling.
Boluwatife Ajayi is not merely reporting the stories around her; she is becoming part of the story of broadcasting in Osun State.
