APC and the Search for Competence: Dr. Sesan Sanusi Fits the Profile

As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the contest for the Olorunda State Constituency seat, conversations are increasingly shifting beyond ordinary political rhetoric to issues of competence, intellectual depth, and leadership capacity.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has long projected itself as a platform that values individuals with strong intellectual pedigree, administrative capacity, and proven competence. In the growing conversations surrounding the Olorunda race, one name that continues to attract attention is Dr. Sesan Sanusi.

Dr. Sanusi’s academic background has become a major point of discussion among political observers and constituents who believe leadership should be driven not merely by popularity, but by sound knowledge, strategic thinking, and exposure.

A holder of a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Mathematics from the University of South Wales, United Kingdom, Dr. Sesan Sanusi represents a blend of academic excellence and intellectual sophistication that many believe is needed in modern governance.

At a time when voters are demanding quality representation, policy-driven leadership, and lawmakers capable of engaging complex societal issues with clarity and intelligence, supporters believe that Dr. Sanusi possesses the educational foundation and analytical mindset required to deliver effective representation for the people of Olorunda.

Beyond the prestige attached to his academic achievements, many within political circles see his profile as evidence that the APC remains a party willing to present candidates with substance, global exposure, and the capacity to compete in an increasingly demanding political environment.

Supporters also postulates that legislative representation requires more than political visibility alone. They believe anyone seeking to represent the people at the State Assembly must be intellectually mobile, capable of presenting meaningful bills, contributing constructively to debates, and moving motions that can positively impact the constituency and the state at large.

As the race gradually unfolds, stakeholders and constituents will continue to assess aspirants based on character, competence, accessibility, and vision. However, for many observers, Dr. Sesan Sanusi’s intellectual credentials already place him among the notable figures to watch in the unfolding political contest for Olorunda State Constituency.

Dr. Sesan Sanusi and the Quiet Architecture of Grassroots Service in Osogbo

In the political landscape of Osogbo especially Olorunda State Constituency, some names emerge through noise, while others rise steadily through years of visible community impact. For many residents across the city of Osogbo, Dr. Sesan Sanusi belongs to the latter category, a figure whose growing reputation has been shaped not merely by political ambition, but by sustained grassroots service, youth development, and community-based interventions.

Armed with a Doctorate degree in Mathematics from the University of South Wales, Dr. Sanusi is often described within the progressive family as a product of enduring political loyalty and ideological continuity. His late father, Chief G.O. Sanusi, remained a respected figure within the progressive movement until his passing in 2017, leaving behind a legacy many supporters believe the younger Sanusi has continued through practical engagement with the people.

Across communities including Osogbo, Ilie, Oba-Ile, and Oba-Oke, Dr. Sanusi’s interventions have increasingly tied his name to empowerment and social development. In 2018, he organised one of the notable free medical outreaches within the constituency, providing healthcare services to over 3,000 beneficiaries.

During the same governorship election season, he also deployed mobile medical support teams alongside APC campaign activities across strategic wards in Osogbo, blending political mobilisation with humanitarian outreach.
His influence has equally extended into education and technology development.

In 2019, he sponsored the first African Code Week programme in Osun State, equipping students from sixteen secondary schools with digital literacy and coding skills. Through the Kajola Cooperative and Empowerment Scheme, several APC members within Olorunda Local Government reportedly benefited from interest-free microcredit support.

His educational interventions later expanded into ICT and coding training programmes across schools such as Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo Grammar School, Ataoja School of Science, St. James Grammar School, and Anglican Commercial Grammar School.

Beyond academics and technology, Dr. Sanusi has continued to invest in youth empowerment and local infrastructure. In 2022, he facilitated rice farming and processing initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people, while in 2024 he organised cybersecurity training programmes designed to prepare youths for opportunities within the evolving digital economy.

His 2025 interventions included the rehabilitation of community boreholes and support for vocational training through the facelift of the Automobile Workshop at the Industrial Development Centre, Osogbo. In 2026, he again returned to medical outreach, coordinating another large-scale healthcare intervention that benefited more than 1,500 elderly residents across Olorunda Local Government.

As political conversations continue ahead of the race for the Olorunda State Constituency seat in the Osun State House of Assembly, many supporters argue that Dr. Sesan Sanusi’s consistent grassroots presence has made him a familiar and trusted figure among the people. To many within the constituency, his profile increasingly represents a combination of intellectual depth, community connection, and a development-focused approach to leadership rooted in years of visible service.
