What's it like to get hantavirus?

The last passengers have left the hantavirus-hit cruise ship, the MV Hondius, as authorities confirmed three new positive cases linked to the deadly outbreak.

Three passengers have died after travelling on the ship, two of whom were confirmed to have had the virus.

Hantaviruses are usually carried by rodents, but human transmission of the Andes strain - which the WHO believes some of the ship's passengers contracted in South America - is possible.

It begins with flu like symptoms, but it can get progressively worse.

Officials say the risk of a major outbreak is very low.

The ship's operator said 27 people remain on board the ship, including 25 crew members and two medical staff.
