US President, Donald Trump, reignited his trade war by threatening more than a dozen countries with higher tariffs Monday — but then said he may be flexible on his new August deadline to reach deals.

Trump sent letters to trading partners, including key US allies Japan and South Korea, announcing that duties he had suspended in April would snap back even more steeply in three weeks.

Tokyo and Seoul would be hit with 25 per cent tariffs on their goods, he wrote. Countries including Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, South Africa and Malaysia were slapped with duties ranging from 25 per cent to 40 per cent.

But in a move that will cause fresh uncertainty in a global economy already unsettled by his tariffs, the 79-year-old once again left the countries room to negotiate a deal.

Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has said his former principal and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar may never become Nigeria’s president, despite years of contesting for the top office.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Bwala, who was Atiku’s spokesperson during the 2023 presidential campaign, said the former vice president has likely exhausted all opportunities to realise his ambition.

“In all honesty, I have expressed my opinion that it may never have been destined by God for him to be a president in Nigeria because he has done everything he needs to do to be president and he did not win the presidency.

“2023 was the biggest opportunity that my former principal Atiku Abubakar had. He will never have that kind of privilege again,” he said.

THE DRIVER OF THE PRADO JEEP WAS INTERVIEWED BY VDM(PART 1): On the day of the show, I carried 6 people, one sat in the front, three in the middle(Mohbad, his wife and prime boy) while two sat at the back carrying the baby. As we were going, Mohbad and his wife were dragging an issue and they were speaking Yoruba, I don’t understand Yoruba. We then branch somewhere to meet Chief Priest. Later Chief Priest left us at the venue and we were following behind him. I didn’t see Mohbad drinking but when we got to Ikorodu, he was high a bit. When we parked, he and his wife were arguing inside the car. At a point, she got down from the car in anger, we had to beg her to get back in. I didn’t even know it was Mohbad I carried until they started singing his song in the car. When we got to the venue of the show, it was soldiers and policemen that followed him to the stage. After he finished his performance, he entered the car. Area boys then trooped out and were asking him for money. At this time, he and his wife were still arguing in Yoruba. Mohbad then said he wanted to come down and fight the area boys but I told him not to come down because it was dangerous.

Prime Boy tapped my seat that I should not say anything so that Moh would not get mad at me. Moh then transferred 71k to my ATM so I could withdraw it and give them. I and the guy who sat in the front went down to withdraw the money. Mohbad already told us how to share the money to the soldiers and the boys. As we were sharing the money, the soldiers were complaining it was too little. Mohbad got so mad and decided he would come down but Prime Boy got down from his side of the car, went to MOH’s side and stopped him from getting down. Mohbad resisted Prime by using the car door. Prime then went back to his seat. Mohbad got down, walked to the car that was in front(the one that brought Chief Priest to the venue). He said ‘whoever parked this car here should move it, I want to go to the house and sleep’.

The Nigerian Air Force, at the weekend, launched coordinated precision airstrikes targeting key Boko Haram enclaves in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.

The operation resulted in the death of key terrorist commanders and the destruction of their strongholds.

Executed under Operation Hadin Kai, the operation focused on Wa Jahode and Loghpere, two long-established strongholds of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad faction of Boko Haram.

The area, known for its difficult terrain along the Nigeria-Cameroon border, had recently seen a surge in terrorist activity, including reports of a logistics buildup and the presence of senior JAS commanders.
