The Udara Tree Lesson

When we were growing up, there was a huge Udara tree at the back of our house.

Every year, it produced the sweetest udara in the village. One afternoon, my friends and I decided to pick some mangoes. Instead of waiting for the ripe ones to fall, we threw stones at the tree.

We kept throwing stones until one hit a neighbor's window and shattered the glass. The noise brought everyone running. My friends ran away, but I stayed and admitted what I had done.

I expected to be punished harshly. Instead, the neighbor thanked me for telling the truth and asked me to help clean up the broken glass.

That day, I learned an important lesson: telling the truth may be difficult, but honesty earns respect and helps make things right.
