🔔🚨Indiana Man Gets 16-Year Sentence After Family Dog Fatally Mauled His Newborn Son🔔🚨
An Indiana father is now serving a 16-year prison term following the death of his one-week-old son, who authorities say was attacked by the family's dog and bitten as many as 180 times.
The infant, identified as Jason Anthony Weaver, sustained catastrophic injuries — among them brain hemorrhages, multiple broken ribs, and lung lacerations — after the attack by Chomp, a five-year-old husky-pit bull mix, according to police records cited by the New York Post and WPTA.
Reports indicate that the baby's father, Austin Kinsey, was in the same room playing video games but stepped out briefly to talk with family members. It was the infant's grandfather, Timothy Kinsey, who discovered the dog dragging the baby across the floor after hearing unusual sounds.
Responding officers attempted to resuscitate the infant with CPR upon arrival at the family's home in Markle, Indiana, but he did not survive.
The property itself raised alarm among investigators, who reported it was cluttered with garbage, soiled laundry, unwashed dishes, and insect infestations — so much so that navigating through the home was difficult. Officers also noted bugs present on the baby's car seat. The residence was later deemed uninhabitable.
Family members recalled Chomp as being affectionate around the baby, though they acknowledged the dog had shown aggression toward other animals in the past and had bitten people before. The dog was subsequently put down.
Kinsey initially faced two neglect-related charges, including harboring a dog without proper vaccination that caused injury. As part of a negotiated plea agreement, prosecutors dropped the more serious neglect charge, and he was handed the 16-year sentence this past Monday.
