speakers, who live mostly in Nigeria and are
primarily of Igbo descent. Igbo i

Latin script, which was introduced by British
colonialists. There is apparently a degree of dialect
leveling occurring. A standard literary
language was developed in 1972 based on the
Owerri and Umuahia dialects, though it omits
the nasalization and aspiration of those
varieties. There are related Igboid languages
as well that are sometimes considered
dialects of Igbo, the most divergent being
Ekpeye. Some of these, such as Ika, have
separate standard forms. Igbo is also a
recognised minority language of Equatorial
Guinea.

This is truly heartbreaking news. 💔

Peter Rufai, affectionately known as Dodo Mayana, was more than just a goalkeeper — he was a national icon and a source of immense pride for Nigerian football fans. His agility, leadership, and passion on the pitch, especially during the golden era of the Super Eagles, made him a beloved figure. From leading Nigeria to AFCON victory in 1994 to proudly representing the nation on the world stage at the FIFA World Cup, Rufai's legacy will forever be etched in Nigerian football history.

To lose him at 61, and so soon after the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother, is a heavy blow to the global football community. These losses remind us of the fragility of life, even for our heroes.

May Peter Rufai’s soul rest in perfect peace, and may his family and all who loved him find comfort in the powerful legacy he leaves behind. 🕊️🇳🇬⚽

Yesterday, the coalition members formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Nigeria General Elections with Distinguished Senator David Mark serving as the National Chairman and H.E. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola serving as the National Secretary.
