The Federal Government, in an official announcement made public on Monday, disclosed the decision to cancel the much-anticipated parade that was previously set for October 1. This parade was intended to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, a significant milestone in the country’s history that many were looking forward to. The official statement, which bears the signature of Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), emphasized that this decision should not be perceived as undermining the importance of the anniversary itself. The SGF assured that despite the parade's cancellation, all other scheduled activities associated with the celebration will proceed as initially planned. The government is determined to celebrate this occasion with both dignity and enthusiasm, ensuring that the spirit of the day remains intact. The statement also conveyed regret for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause, extending gratitude to Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and all invited guests for their understanding and unwavering support during this period. Citizens were encouraged to continue supporting the transformative reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which are aimed at cultivating a stronger and more prosperous nation for all.
