Your destiny is not tied to those who left you. God doesn’t need anything you lost to bless you. Those who walked away, who didn’t understand you, who betrayed you, they didn’t stop what God has for you. Let it go. Quit dwelling on it, reliving the hurt, thinking about how you can pay them back, or hoping to change their mind. God closed the door. Be at peace with those who have walked away. Quit trying to hold on to people who don’t want to be there. You’re not supposed to chase people to love you, accept you, believe in you. If they want to leave, let them walk. You don’t need them. This takes the pressure off. No more striving and straining, trying to convince people to be for you. That’s laboring in vain. That’s going to wear you out. Trust God to be your doorkeeper. Trust Him with your relationships.

Don’t let a wrong story, what you’ve been through, what looks too big, what hasn’t happened, convince you that you can’t defeat your giants, you can’t accomplish that dream, you can’t be healthy, successful, free, fulfilled. The enemy got your pen. He’s altering your story. Get that pen back. Cross out all those lies. This has to start in your own heart, your own mind. God is not going to force His destiny, His favor, His blessings. You have to get in agreement with Him.

I can’t promise you there won’t be struggling seasons, seasons that are not fair, but I can promise you that if you’ll keep the right attitude, you’ll come out better. We don’t grow so much in the good times, we grow in the difficult times, where we’re being stretched and pressed and we have to dig down deep and pass the test. That’s where God is getting us prepared for our destiny. Without that adversity, we couldn’t step into the fullness of what He has in store.

it's much better to let God promote you, not people. Don’t get in a hurry. You don’t have to make things happen; you don’t have to convince someone to put in a good word for you. God knows how to hide you and, you can be assured, He knows how to elevate you. If you’ll let God do it His way, it will be better than anything you could have made happen. You don’t have to promote yourself. God has not forgotten about you.

I don't know who needs to hear this: You weren’t created to live in a proving mode, trying to impress others, outperform your coworkers, not feeling good about who you are unless you’re achieving, impressing, outperforming. Living to impress people will keep you from your destiny. That’s time and energy that you need for your dreams, for your goals. You may impress people. You may win their approval, they compliment you, “You look great; you sure are successful.” But we should live to impress God. Praise from people only feeds our ego. Promotion is not going to come from that person you impress. Proving to your friend that you’re talented, you’re successful, may make you feel good, but they don’t open doors, they don’t part Red Seas, they don’t line up favor, divine connections. Instead of impressing people, we should spend our time impressing God.

Get your words going in the right direction. You can’t talk negative and have a positive life. You can’t talk defeat and live victoriously. You can’t talk lack and have abundance. Your words are setting the course for your future. If you want to know what you’re going to be like five years from now, listen to what you’re saying about yourself. “I can’t accomplish my dreams; I don’t have the connections. I’ll never get well; the medical report’s not improving. I’ll never break this addiction, never meet the right person, my children will never get back on course.” If you have a negative mouth, you’re going to have a negative life. Quit speaking defeat over your future.

Imagine fear, worry, doubt, and insecurity living in your house, dragging you down, stealing your joy, taking your peace. That may be the way it’s been, but this can be a new day. It’s time to do some house cleaning. You need to evict some tenants that have been living in your mind. The good news is you’re in charge. They may seem bigger, stronger, more powerful, but you determine what stays in your mind. You need to tell fear, “You’re evicted; you’re not welcome here anymore. I’m not living afraid of what might happen. My future is in God’s hands. Nothing can stand against Him.” Tell worry, “You’ve been with me long enough. I’m sorry, but you’ve lost your lease.” Tell doubt, “Your time is up. I’ve got some new rules; you have to go.” Tell insecurity, “Sorry, no more place for you. You’re out of here. See you, not going to be you.”
