Royal Address on 7th Anniversary
First and foremost, I want to give gratitude to Almighty God, the Creator of all creatures, the architect of heaven and earth and everything there in for His continued guidance and protection, it's through His divine grace and favour we're able to assemble here to celebrate this anniversary.
Also, i recognize the presence of Oloko in Council, Oloko Royal families, Head of Molebis Pa. Lawal Kareem and entire Molebis, the religious leaders, the Grand Chief Imam of Oko land, and entire Muslim Community, Rev'd Dr. T.S. Kolade and CAN members, the Oluawo Isese of Oko land, Chief Niran Awogbile, the invited guests and all others present here this morning.
Today's July 17th marks 7 years I ascended to Royal seat of our forebears, as we all know our community had some inherited challenges ranging from land tussles between some neighbouring communities and our kingdom, individuals land dispute, Corona Virus popularly called COVID-19 which culminated to nation wide lock down, even the Obaship tussle and the lots. We're able to confront these challenges without being despair, through your unwavering supports and dedication we've summoned courage to tackle those Challenges without relenting.
* Land Dispute: Over some decades, our kingdom has had some nagging issues on land with our neighbouring communities most importantly Aagba community that resulted to legal tussle between our Kingdom and Aagba community, even though the issue became more complicated because of the people involved in the background, but to God almighty be the glory, with the supports of you all we're able to confront and challenge the process.
* CoronaVirus Pandemic (COVID-19): Covid-19 is a global pandemic that ravaged the world, its period created a tensed atmosphere not only for the government but at all levels. During this period, there was a complete lockdown for almost the period the pandemic ravaged. As government was striving to curtail its spread, we also made series of efforts in our domain to curtail it and as well made some moves to cushion its effects on our people in terms of food and shelter and the likes. I thereby set up committee to work out modalities on how we can impact positively on our people and cushion the effects of this global pandemic at that period, to God almighty be the glory, the committee was inaugurated and the process began through raising of funds, indeed! The process was successful, we were able to procure food stuffs and other items through the funds raised and those items were distributed to targeted indigents in phases throughout the period pandemic lapsed. Here, i want to thank the ever committed committee members raised for this task for their sincerity, dedication and wisdom.
* General Development: Upon series of distractions here and there, our kingdom has been able to record some landmark progress and development, even though the development is perpetual. Through unrelenting efforts, we've able to achieve some feats in social, health care services and amenities. To put our kingdom on track, i sought for citing of Police Command within our community because when a kingdom or area is a target of hoodlums there's no way such a kingdom or area can develop. With strengthen security architecture in our kingdom we've restored the confidence of financial institution, strengthen the protection of lives and properties, curb hooliganism and many others.
* Health Centre: Health of our people is germane, through collaborative efforts of associates, we've been able to attract centre where our people can seek medical attention, even though some dubious elements made efforts to frustrate its stand but we'll continue to make efforts to sustain it because health of our people is paramount to us.
* Constant Electricity and Water Supply: in a bid to improve the businesses and economic situations of our kingdom, we've also made collaborative efforts with Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) managing our domains and sought assistance of influential personalities to assist us with viable materials needed for constant electric supply, with this, businesses can move forward and ultimately improve the economic situations in our domain. More so, provision of water supply is underway, it has already reached advanced stage, very soon, the aims and its effects will start manifest in our community. At this juncture, we thank both our Former Rep (initiator) and the incumbent for their loves towards the development of the kingdom.
* LCDA Headquarter: The siting of Surulere South LCDA administrative quarter is also one of the potential future progress we've secured for our kingdom, the presence of government administrative quarter will not only bring growth and development but also improve the socioeconomic activities of our domains in the future, with the recent supreme court verdict on local government financial autonomy we're optimistic this would attract more development to our kingdom.
* Ongoing ultra Modern Palace: To facelift our kingdom, we've initiated and committed to building new ultra modern palace with the mutual cooperation and unwavering dedication of you all, towards this course, we've committed ourselves in finances and physical supports, the success of it will be attributed to your mutual collaboration and unwavering commitment. I want to carve your indulgence and further seek your solidarity supports towards achieving this mandate together and move our kingdom forward.
I want to seize this medium to appreciate golden sons and daughters of the kingdom home and abroad for your unwavering dedication, love, critical decisions being making and supports towards the development of our domain. It's my prayer to almighty to continue strengthen our loves, mutual cooperation and peaceful coexistence of inhabitants in our domain and also make everyone of us prosperous in our endeavour and grant us all the needed grace to navigate successfully through life, Amen.
