Osun Online Publishers Elect Tosin Lawrence as New Chairman

The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has elected Comrade Abioye Tosin Lawrence as its new Chairman following the successful conduct of its general election.

Other elected executives include Mr. Idowu Abass of Idealplusgist as Vice Chairman, Mr. Adekale Babatunde of Spyloaded as General Secretary, and Mr. Fatai Akanji of Adulawo as Financial Secretary.

Comrade Lawrence of Oriontime News emerged winner after polling 57.9 per cent of the total votes cast to defeat Mr. Bright Olorungbotemi of Voice Air Media and Mr. Hammed Tajudeen of Blaze News Nigeria in a keenly contested race.

The just concluded election has produced a new executive team to pilot the affairs of the Association for the next two years.

According to the committee, a maiden manifesto session was introduced to deepen engagement and promote accountability among contestants.

"Voting commenced promptly at 8:00 a.m. with accreditation of eligible members, followed by orderly balloting in strict compliance with the established electoral guidelines. The exercise was conducted in a peaceful and well-coordinated manner, reflecting the Association’s commitment to democratic principles and institutional integrity.

"In its post-election remarks, the Electoral Committee expressed appreciation to members for their cooperation and active participation, noting that the results represent the collective will of the electorate.

"The newly elected executives will be formally sworn in at the forthcoming Congress scheduled for March. At that time, the outgoing administration led by Mr. Mukhtar Ajelogbon will officially hand over leadership responsibilities, paving the way for a new phase of strategic direction and institutional consolidation for the Association.

Osun Online Publishers Congratulate Newly Elected Osun NUJ Leadership

The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) heartily congratulates the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, following the successful conduct of its election held on Tuesday.

The Association extends its warmest felicitations to Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, who emerged as Chairman; Comrade Olalekan Akindoju of Rave 91.7FM/Western Spring Television, elected as Secretary; and Comrade Saheed Adegboye of the Federation Chapel, who was elected Treasurer.

In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Association, the Chairman of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA), Mukhtar Ajelogbon, described the emergence of the new executives as “a round peg in a round hole,” noting that their wealth of professional experience, dedication, and track record in journalism positions them suitably to lead the Union at this critical time in the media industry.

Governor Adeleke Mourns SOJ Worldwide Publisher, Adesoji Omosebi

● Mulls Health Insurance Programme for Journalists

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has expressed sadness over the death of Adesoji Omosebi, Publisher of SOJ Worldwide Online News, a member of the Osun Online Publishers Association.

The Governor described his demise as a great loss to the media industry in Osun state adding that his contributions to the growth and development of the online media industry in Osun state cannot be over emphasized.

In a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor noted that the contributions of the late Publisher to the development of Osun State as a player in the fourth estate of the realm will never be forgotten.

“Today, we mourn the demise of Adesoji Omosebi, the Publisher of SOJ Worldwide Online News and a member of the Osun Online Publishers Association.

“His demise is a huge loss to the media industry in Osun state. His contributions to the growth and development of the online media sector as pioneer Chairman of OOPA will never be forgotten.

“His contributions to the development of Osun as a major player in the fourth estate of the realm will never be forgotten.

The governor further directed the State Health Insurance agency to study the possibility of enrolling journalists in the health Insurance scheme, describing them as important stakeholders in the society.

“May God Almighty comfort his family and grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss. SOJ will be missed greatly”, the Governor noted in a condolence message.

*Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Omoyele, Condoles With OOPA Over the Passing of Publisher, Adesoji Omosebi*

The Corps Commander of the Osun Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Adesoji Omosebi, Publisher of SOJ Worldwide and a prominent member of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA).

In a condolence message delivered through the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, Dr. Omoyele described the news of Omosebi’s passing as a “rude shock,” noting that his contributions to journalism and public information dissemination were still greatly needed.

Dr. Omoyele recalled his longstanding relationship with the late Omosebi, emphasizing that their bond dated back to his years of service in the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that even after his appointment as the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun, Omosebi continued to offer unwavering support to him and to the security agency.

According to him, “SOJ was not only a professional journalist but also a close friend. He consistently demonstrated genuine concern for my work and for the progress of the Osun Amotekun Corps. His death is a personal loss to me, and he will be greatly missed.”

The Corps Commander extended his heartfelt condolences to the Osun Online Publishers Association, the family of the deceased, and the media community at large. He prayed for God to grant the departed eternal rest and give the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
