MY HUSBAND'S TWIN
Episode 31 β The Price of the Throne
The laughter faded immediately.
Amina's smile disappeared.
Her face turned pale.
"Gabriel..."
She whispered.
The man in royal robes spread his arms.
"My dear sister."
"You've been very difficult to find."
David stepped forward.
"Stay away from my mother."
Gabriel looked David up and down before smiling.
"So..."
"This is the child you chose over a kingdom."
Amina stood in front of David.
"I never chose a throne."
"I chose peace."
Gabriel laughed.
"Peace?"
"You disappeared."
"You abandoned your people."
"And you left me to carry a crown that was never meant to be mine."
Daniel frowned.
"If you never wanted the throne..."
"Why hunt her for twenty-six years?"
Gabriel's smile slowly faded.
"Because..."
"As long as she lives..."
"...my crown belongs to someone else."
The words hung in the air.
The armed men tightened their grip on their rifles.
Samuel whispered,
"He's desperate."
Gabriel took a step forward.
"I'll make you one offer."
He looked directly at Amina.
"Come back with me."
"Stand before the Royal Council."
"Publicly renounce your claim to the throne."
"And I will spare everyone here."
David scoffed.
"And if she refuses?"
Gabriel didn't blink.
"I bury every witness."
Silence.
The wind swept across the old church ruins.
Daniel slowly moved closer to David.
"If this turns into a fight..."
"You protect your mother."
David shook his head.
"No."
"We protect everyone."
Gabriel smiled.
"Still trying to be heroes."
He snapped his fingers.
One of his guards stepped forward carrying a small wooden box.
Gabriel opened it.
Inside...
Was a crown.
Old.
Heavy.
Covered in precious stones.
Amina gasped.
"My father's crown..."
Gabriel nodded.
"I've kept it polished for twenty-six years."
Then, without warning...
He dropped it onto the rocky ground.
The crown cracked into two pieces.
Everyone froze.
Amina screamed.
Gabriel looked at her with icy eyes.
"That's what happens..."
"...to everything you refuse to claim."
Just then...
A convoy of police vehicles surrounded the hill.
Officers jumped out with their weapons drawn.
"Ladies and gentlemen!"
A commanding voice boomed through a loudspeaker.
"Drop your weapons!"
For a brief second...
Hope returned.
Then Gabriel smiled.
He wasn't afraid.
He simply reached into his pocket...
And held up an official government identification card.
The police commander saluted him immediately.
"Your Highness."
Daniel's heart sank.
The police weren't there to arrest Gabriel.
They were there...
To protect him.
