CALLING ON OYO STATE GOVERNMENT AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON AVOIDING POTENTIAL FLOOD DISASTER IN OYO ALAAFIN

Sir, I want to point it out that there are three key streams/rivers which drain all the water outlets from Oyo Metropolis to the Aawon, otherwise known as Erelu, Dam in Oyo.

The three outlets are pronounced and found immediately after the Oyo-Ibadan Express Way.

The first one is found immediately after the Celestial/Obananko Road, that is, immediately after the dilapidated Celestial/Celestial/Obananko culvert, just before the Expressway, between Gold and Rock Community and Irewole Community;

the second one is the Awerintu River at Olooro end, just before Emmanuel Alayande University (EAUED) main gate and

the third one is the Saabo end, immediately after the main gate of EAUED.

Sir, I live in the Irewole Community, I am aware of the environmental threat being posed by the river/stream at that end (immediately after the Expressway) to the lives and properties of the inhabitants of the area.

Several efforts had been made in the past, by the people in that environment to get the stream/river dredged for easy flow of water and to prevent avoidable damage(s) by flooding in the area, but the cost of carrying out the exercise seemed/seems too exorbitant for the people to bare and beyond them.

Sir, I wish you could visit, in person, or send a delegate to visit the area to assess the situation of things for immediate action to be taken, so as ameliorate the suffering of the people in the area as far as the environmental problem is concerned.

A stitch in time saves all of our lives.

CALL TO ACTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Good morning sir

Yes, the epileptic power supply in Ọyọ is just too much and there are factors affecting us such as inadequate transformer in the town and unevenly distribution of prepaid meters et ce te ra. Transformers and cables are the responsibilities of the electricity providers who are supposed to financially responsible because they are the ones who collect money for services that we are barely enjoying yet we are paying.

POINT OF NOTE: The 132kv transformer at the TCN sub station in Oluewu is grossly and absolutely is under utilized as only one feeder is being used out of the Three feeders currently available.

The ibedc and the government have a lot to do in respect of this if our people want to have adequate power supply in Oyo metropolis.

The people of Ọyọ need to meet the Ibedc on what to do in other to tap current through the remaining two feeders at the TCN electrical yard.

BREAKING NEWS IN OYO ALAAFIN

Project Inspection Update: Advancing Development in Oyo East & Oyo West

Earlier today, I inspected some of our ongoing projects, many of which are set for commissioning later this month. These initiatives reflect our continued commitment to improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and public services for our people.

Here’s an update on the projects:

✅ Reconstruction of a block of classrooms at Ajagba village – 80% complete, equipped with decent toilet facilities (Oyo East).
✅ Borehole at Kosobo – Delivered with support from Pharm. Remi Omotosho of Bond Pharmaceuticals and Sunrise Malls, now 85% ready (Oyo East).
✅ Borehole at Cele (Transformer area) – Near completion at 90% (Oyo West).
✅ Borehole at Agure, Ward 1 – Successfully constructed today, providing clean water to the community (Oyo East).
✅ Enuoroba Culvert – Ready for commissioning. This project was delivered through the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) under the leadership of Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga. The Oyo State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Tunji Babatunde, played a significant role in facilitating it.
✅ Police Station at Fashola (Oyo West) – The foundation stone will be laid by the distinguished Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, with completion expected by June 2025, marking our second year in office.

Since our inauguration, my colleague, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola (Atiba State Constituency), and I have collaborated on the renovation of the Customary Court, Grade A at Oke Ebo, ensuring improved judicial services for our people.

Additionally, I sponsored the renovation of the Accident and Emergency Ward at the State Hospital, Owode, Oyo, reinforcing our commitment to better healthcare services.

Beyond project ex*****on, I have remained up to date with my primary responsibilities as a lawmaker—engaging in legislative duties, sponsoring bills and motions, and carrying out necessary oversight functions to ensure good governance.

I am also pleased to inform you that I have recently been appointed as the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Ecology, and Water Resources. This new responsibility further strengthens my resolve to advocate for policies and initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, ecological balance, and improved water resource management in Oyo State.

We remain steadfast in our mission to deliver impactful projects that enhance the quality of life for our constituents. I appreciate the support of stakeholders, partners, and the community as we continue to push for meaningful progress.

ONAONIBODE OF IGBOHO CONDOLES WITH GOV. SEYI MAKINDE

It is with a heavy heart and acceptance of the will of God in which it is not given unto any man the power to change but all human beings born of a woman must submit to.
