2025 DEMOCRACY DAY: "WE'LL OVERCOME OUR NUMEROUS CHALLENGES, GROW OUR DEMOCRACY AND EMERGE VICTORIOUS" – SPEAKER DEWAN
As Nigerians across the nation mark the 2025 Democracy Day, the Rt. Hon. Dewan Kudangbena Gabriel, Speaker of the Plateau State 10th House of Assembly and Member Representing Pankshin North Constituency, has extended heartfelt congratulations and a stirring call to action to his constituents, the people of Plateau State, and Nigerians at large.
The Speaker emphasized on the need for unity, resilience, and patriotic commitment in the face of the myriad challenges confronting the country. He acknowledged the current economic and security difficulties but urged citizens to stay focused on the vision of a peaceful, united, and prosperous Nigeria.
"Though our nation is grappling with numerous challenges ranging from insecurity to economic hardships, I firmly believe that with collective determination and genuine patriotism, we will overcome these obstacles, grow our democracy, and emerge victorious", the Speaker declared.
Rt. Hon. Dewan reaffirmed the unwavering resolve of the Plateau State House of Assembly under his leadership to continue championing Democratic ideals by strengthening institutions, upholding the rule of law, ensuring equity and justice, and putting the welfare of citizens first.
"We are committed to building a plateau where every child has access to quality education, every family can access affordable healthcare, farmers are empowered, and all citizens enjoy justice and equality regardless of background or beliefs", he noted.
He praised the contributions of Plateau citizens and encouraged them not to relent in playing active roles in the development of the state and the nation, stressing that democracy thrives when every voice is heard and every hand is involved in building the future.
"Let us rise above partisan divides and religious sentiments. Let us be the unifying force that drives progress. Democracy is not about elections alone, it is about justice, inclusivity, and active citizenship", he said.
Rt. Hon. Dewan also reflected on the strides made under his stewardship over the last two years, highlighting critical interventions across sectors. He cited the ex*****on of physical capital projects, the provision of potable water, and significant investments in education, agriculture, and health as proof of responsive and people-centered governance.
As the nation celebrates another milestone in its democratic journey, the Speaker called on all Nigerians to continue to pray for the country, remain hopeful, and stay committed to the vision of a greater Nigeria.
"We must continue to pray for our country, believing that despite the odds, Nigeria will rise. Democracy has come to stay, no amount of injustice or disruption will alter its course. Together, we will shape a better tomorrow" he Concluded.
He wished all Nigerians a peaceful and hitch-free Democracy Day celebration.
