Through the MH-NoW project, PSI Nigeria has set up Technical Working Groups (TWGs) across our six implementing project states, bringing government, civil society, private sector, community leaders, and young people to the same table.

These TWGs are strengthening advocacy, driving policies, and mobilizing resources so that every girl and woman can access menstrual health with dignity.

Because menstrual health is everyone’s business. Period! ♥️

Some men, especially Nigerian men do not know what it means when their woman says,
"I’m on my period."

They think it’s just blood coming out every month.

But they don’t know that behind that blood...
Is pain.
Is discomfort.
Is mood swings.
Is tiredness.
Is bloating.
Is body aches.
It is hormonal madness.

It’s not just physical.
It’s mental.
It’s emotional.
It’s spiritual too.

Some women go through cramps that feel like internal battles.
As if something is dragging their womb left and right.
They still go to work.
They still take care of the house.
They still cook and wash,
They still smile, laugh, serve, and show up for people.

Yet, some men will see their woman in pain and still say, "What’s even wrong with you sef? Every time you’re moody."

Sir, that’s not moodiness.
That’s a cycle she didn’t choose.
That’s nature showing up.
And she’s enduring it in silence.

Men, your role is not to mock.
Not to complain.
Not to add to her pains
Not to ignore.

Your role is to support.

Rub her back.
Get her meds.
Help her cook
Let her rest.
Help her clean up
Say sweet things.
Be patient with her.
Be present.

These alone would reduce her pain and stress

Even God knew what He created. That’s why He gave women the grace to carry that burden monthly.

You, as a man, should not add to the pain. You’re meant to reduce it.

Some women are fighting not just physical pain, but spiritual, cultural, religious, and mythical warfare too, just because of this monthly flow.
And you, her love, her better half, her covering, her protector, her partner... should be physically present, emotionally available, and spiritually alert.

Pray for her.
Pray with her.
Care for her
Cover her.
Don’t just be physically present. Be emotionally and psychologically involved too.

She’s not weak.
She’s just human.
And every month, her body reminds her of it.

Support her.

Even if she never says it, she will never forget how you made her feel during those tough days at that time of the month!

A woman needs love and care during her menstruation, if you can offer them to her, she will be priceless KING forever.

Today, I attended a training organized by PsicreativesNigeria [PSI] as a media volunteer as they are onboarding us for their Menstrual Health No Wahala [MH-NoW] project.

A Campaign targeted at creating awareness and enlightenment on some menstrual health concerns, myths, challenges, and solutions for our adolescent girls.

In the coming days, I will be adding my voice to spreading the news, educating, and enlightening the girls and ladies on my platform on some of the concerns, new developments, and solutions to some of their menstrual health issues.

Menstruation is natural, it's nothing to be ashamed of!
Educate your girl child about it early enough.
Prepare her for it too.
Let her know what to expect once it comes.
Teach them how to pad themselves
Let them know how to care for themselves [hygiene]
And how to navigate through that time of the month.

That way, you would help her welcome her period with pride, not with shame or fear.

PSI is here to help you ACT NOW!

Advancing Menstrual Health in Nigeria

The MH-NoW project by PSI Nigeria is breaking barriers for the advancement of Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM) across Nigeria!

On January 14th & 20th, we proudly inaugurated Technical Working Groups (TWGs) in Kano and Akwa Ibom states, adding to the successes in Bauchi, Lagos, Nasarawa, and Sokoto. These TWGs bring together key ministries, CSOs, private sector partners, and more to coordinate efforts, share insights, and create lasting impact.

With strong leadership from state officials, these achievements mark a giant leap towards ensuring every girl and woman manages menstruation with dignity and confidence.

Here's to a future where no girl and woman is disadvantaged due to menstruation!

Slide 1: Slide 1: The Senior Program Manager, Dr. Hameed Adediran introducing the MH-NoW project to stakeholders on Menstrual Health in Kano state.
