THE STORY OF AFRICAN SLAVERY BY THE EUROPEANS. Hundreds of years ago, European nations began exploring the coasts of Africa. What started as trade in goods soon turned into a dark chapter in human history, the transatlantic slave trade.European traders, with the help of some local African rulers and middlemen, began capturing or purchasing African men, women, and children. These captives were packed into ships under brutal conditions and transported across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas, a journey known as the MIDDLE PASSAGE , where many died from disease, starvation, or abuse.Once in the Americas, the enslaved Africans were sold like property and forced to work on plantations, especially in the Caribbean, Brazil, and the southern United States, growing sugar, cotton, and to***co. Families were separated, identities erased, and generations suffered under harsh treatment with no freedom or rights. This horrific trade lasted for over 400 years, from the 15th to the 19th century, during which millions of Africans were enslaved and displaced. It left deep scars on African societies and shaped the racial injustices that still exist today.Despite this, the strength, resistance, and resilience of the African people lived on, through rebellions, culture, and the fight for freedom. Today, the memory of slavery reminds the world of the importance of justice, dignity, and human rights for all.
