Sometimes, the price is not just the price.
Behind that small bowl of akara is someone who woke up early, bought ingredients, prepared everything, and stood by the fire hoping to make a little profit.
Sometimes we bargain so hard with small sellers that we forget they are also trying to survive. The small amount we fight to remove from the price may mean very little to us, but they can mean a lot to someone trying to feed a family, pay bills, or continue their small business.
Not every seller is trying to take advantage of you. Some are simply fighting silent battles with the little they have.
If you can afford it, support them. Buy their product. Encourage them. Put a smile on their face.
Because sometimes, what we see as “just buying akara” is actually helping someone’s dream stay alive. ❤️
Respect small businesses. Behind every small stand is a big story.
