TOPIC: UNITY OF PURPOSE

TEXT: EZEKIEL 11:19 KJV – “Ezekiel 11:19 *_"And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh."_*

Great unity exists in the Trinity. This is because they are driven by one purpose and they see the same thing.

In the same vein, if we walk in unity there is nothing we cannot achieved in our families, marriage and church. Our text reveals to us that when we become truely born again, God gives us a new heart and a new spirit. This is so that we begin to walk in unity with him, and we are also able to walk together in unity because we have the same spirit. When this happens that our hearts are now together, seeing the same vision, we are now though many bodies, we become single. All of us working though in different capacities, areas, and locations, because we see as one, and carry one purpose, we are all united as one.

*Questions to Ponder.*
1. What does “If thine eye be single” mean in Matt 6:22-23
2. Why was the early church manifesting great unity.
3. What great things can we do when we are united in purpose?
4. How has separation in our hearts helped or otherwise destroyed us?

*Conclusion*
When we begin to see things the way God sees things; we can walk together to achieve much. Matt 6:22-23. The early church experienced this wonderful unity. *“Singleness of heart”.* That was why they achieved much. They were following instruction of Jesus (John 17:21).

*Prayers & Commitment*
Lord, I submit myself and melt it to the unity of purpose of Christianity and your will; fill me with understanding of your word to do away with complications in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

*BIBLE STUDY OUTLINE*
*Topic* : Followership (Soldiers of God)
*Text* : Matthew 24:45-51

*PREAMBLE*
Our yesterday study opened our eyes on the leadership style in God's kingdom, and reqirement for those who will lead well. Today, we shall consider another topic “FOLLOWERSHIP”.
Followership is defined as the willingness to cooperate in working toward the accomplishment of defined goals while demonstrating a high degree of interactive teamwork.

A follower must understand true principles so that the things he does brings to pass righteousness and not wickedness. Jesus said (Luke 22:27) “I am among you as one who serves”, which means that a follower that wants to be great must first take the position of a servant. Christ like followers are good workers.

*QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION*
1) What is followership?
2) Who is called a follower?
3) Can you have a leader without followers; Why?
4) What lessons do we learn from Luke 22:27?

*FOOD FOR THOUGHT* :
As followers, we are not in any position to judge the leaders. Rom. 13:1-8. We are to follow without murmuring and complaining. Otherwise, we will lose our reward.

*MEMORY VERSE*: Matthew 23:11 "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant." KJV

*TOPIC: OBEDIENT*
*Text* : Isaiah 1:19-20 _KJV_ – “ ```If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it”.```

The oxford dictionary defines obedient as complying or willing to comply with an order or request, submissive to another authority.
Obedience to God’s command is the true sign of your love for God. “ ```If you love me, you will obey what I command”``` _(John 14:15)._

To know if we are growing in obedience, and to actually grow in our onedience is by knowing His word and following instruction willingly _(2nd Corin 10:5, Heb 13:17)_ . As Christians, we are called to a life of obedience (see Christ Jesus as a perfect example)

*QUESTION*:
*What is Obedient?*
1. What are the benefits of being obedient?
2. Why is obedient so important to God?

*CONCLUSION* :
The best of leaders are those who have learned to lead by taking on the strengths and characteristics of other great leaders. Obedience brings discipline life which in turn makes a person dutiful toward his job. And dutifulness and discipline are the two key characteristics of a leader. He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander. As an army of salvation your duty is to willingly follow and obey instruction.

Prayers and Commitment
Lord, I surround myself in humility and obedience to your word, use me as an instrument to promote your word (gospel) in character, in Jesus name, Amen.

4. _And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know._
5. _Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?_
6. _Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me._

*SOME LESSONS NOTED FROM THE SCRIPTURE ABOVE (ABOUT LEADERSHIP)*
a. You must believe in God.
b. Does your followers believe in you?
Do not assume everyone understands the path you are following, explain to them for the understanding to come
c. Leaders must be able to use his/her life as an example of God; being an example of Christ (John 14:11)
d. Leaders do not only produce followers but greater leaders (John 14:12)
e. Leader is the platform on which the people follow (John 15:1; I'm the true Vine ...)

*BIBLE STUDY OUTLINE*

*Topic* : Leadership
*Text* : Exodus 18:21-26

*PREAMBLE* :
Leadership is the act of leading or influencing a group of people or an organization. A leader is therefore one who is able to influence men to act in a certain way, in this case, as it pleases God. One can be in a position of authority, but not be leading the people under him.
As a good Christian leader you need to seek God’s vision for the people you are leading to be able to give them direction. There are certain virtues a leader must possess Exodus 18:21. To be a leader worthy of people's respect and followership, such persons must first take the responsibility of working on themselves first, so that men will not have anything or reason to disregard our leadership (see memory verse).
The following are some of the Christian leader: Love, modesty, self-development, motivation, integrity and follower of God’s will. See also Acts 6:3; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9.

*QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION*
1) What is leadership?
2) Who is a leader?
3) List out the features of a leader.
4) What do each of those features signifies?
5) What do you understand about today’s study?

*FOOD FOR THOUGHT*
Leaders are appointed to set things in order, so they must consciously set their lives in order to be able to correct things. Your life may be mared before appointment, but you are not permitted to remain the same.

*MEMORY VERSE*: 1 Corinthians 11:1 "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." KJV
