Tension in Omoku as Gunmen Kill OSPAC Zone Commander, Three Others
In Omoku, Rivers State

Residents of Omoku were thrown into panic on the evening of Tuesday, July 21, 2026, following a deadly attack by unidentified gunmen that claimed the lives of the OSPAC Omoku Zone Commander, popularly known as Busky, and three other persons.

The incident occurred between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at a shop located close to the deceased's family house along Oba Road, Omoku. Eyewitnesses said heavy gunfire sent residents and business owners fleeing for safety.

In addition to the four fatalities, several other persons sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

Following the attack, the assailants reportedly left behind a letter alleging that individuals associated with the late Don Wani would be "fished out." The letter also urged members of the community not to panic, claiming that only those whose "hands are not clean" were being targeted. The authenticity and contents of the letter are expected to form part of ongoing security investigations.

Reacting to the incident, the Executive Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Sir Dr. Chukwu Shedrack Ogbogu, condemned the killings in strong terms. In a press statement, he described the attack as senseless and unacceptable, assuring residents that security agencies have been directed to investigate the incident thoroughly.

He further stated that everyone involved in the attack would be identified, arrested, and brought to justice.

The tragic incident has heightened tension across Omoku, with residents calling for increased security presence and swift action to restore confidence and prevent further violence.

Security agencies have commenced investigations, while residents have been urged to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with law enforcement authorities as efforts continue to apprehend those responsible.
