His Excellency Sir Siminalaye Joseph Fubara GSSRS Governor of Rivers state appoints Bakana illustrious son Chief Dr Roland Daniel Kiri Davies Braide as commissioner in the state executive council.
Degema went agog as members of the simplified movement, leaders within the LGA and state, colleagues,family,friends and well wishers turned up in their numbers to celebrate Dr Roland whyte who was nominated and forwarded for screening by His Excellency the executive governor of Rivers state to the Rivers state house of assembly under the able leadership of the *RT Hon Victor Oko jumbo* as commissioner and his subsequent swearing in by the executive governor into the state executive council as commissioner for special projects earlier today.
The governor His Excellency Sir Siminalaye Joseph Fubara during the swearing in admonished the newly sworn in commissioner to add value to the administration by bringing his wealth of experience to bear for the overall benefit of rivers people as it is an opportunity to serve and to make positive input by joining hands to implement the social contract the state government has with Rivers people which is delivering the dividends of democracy.
Several goodwill messages poured in a later grand reception held in his honour to celebrate the brand new Honourable commissioner, which attracted top government functionaries, leaders of the simplified movement, CTC chairmen, chiefs , women groups and youths.

Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board) thank God for making this day come to pass and also thanked the executive governor Sir Siminalaye Fubara for finding Dr Roland worthy of this position to serve rivers people having being satisfied and convinced that he will deliver in his new role. Chief Briggs described the governor as one peaceful man that has remained focused and unwavering irrespective of the turbulence and still driving development down to the deepest part of Rivers state and that is why he has picked men of credible and proven record to office of trust, he also urged the brand new Honourable commissioner to work in line with the vision and aspirations of the government so as to deliver on the mandate.
In another speech Professor Victor O.T Omuaru thanked God and the executive governor for giving a true son of Bakana the opportunity to make input in the building of a new rivers state under the leadership of His Excellency Sir Siminalaye Joseph Fubara, adding that he is quite certain that Dr Roland whyte won't let the trust reposed on him down.
Also in their separate speeches sir Ngo Martyns Yellowe leader of the simplified movement in Degema ward (1) expressed heartfelt appreciation to the governor and also called on each and everyone to support the state government at every point in time.. He emphasize that development is a collective task and our people should play their own part smoothly while the government also does theirs, he further noted that the simplified family is still stretching their hands of fellowship to others who wish to join hands with the governor to push the state forward..
Hon Jonny Braide ( party chairman Degema) while thanking his Excellency Sir Siminalaye Fubara also sounded it clear that Degema people are fully simplified and will work according to any instructions or order given by the governor who is the chief executive and the number one man in the state.. he used the opportunity to once more thank the governor for awarding the second phase of the Trans Kalabari road which his community bakana was captured
Futhermore, the leader of simplified movement in Degema Chief Hon Damiete Herbert Miller appreciated His Excellency the executive governor for giving Degema people a voice in the state executive council and also reassured the governor of the total support from the good people of the LGA in all aspects of his administration. He advised the newly sworn in commissioner to use his office to unite Degema and the leaders in other to forge a good front for for the executive governor and the state at large..
He noted that during the picking process many persons might have had the interest to become commissioner but buttress that only one person could have emerged and it is ideal that all the leaders come together after the whole process and work with who the governor has picked for the betterment of tomorrow.
