STATEWIDE BROADCAST BY HIS EXCELLENCY, SIR SIMINALAYI FUBARA, GSSRS, ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2025

MY DEAR GOOD PEOPLE OF RIVERS STATE

Recall that Rivers State was placed under a six-month emergency rule, declared by Mr. President, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the 18th of March, 2025, following the intense political crisis in our State.

2. It is without doubt that the last six months had been enormously challenging for our dear State under the emergency rule.

3. As your Governor, I accepted to abide by the state of emergency declaration and chose to cooperate with Mr. President and the National Assembly, guided by my conviction that no sacrifice was too great to secure peace, stability, and progress of Rivers State.

4. This was why I also resisted the pressure to challenge the constitutionality of the declaration of a state of emergency, the suspension of democratic institutions, and all other actions that we endured during this difficult period.

5. In the course of the six-month period, Mr. President graciously brokered the peace process with all the parties successfully. Our Leader, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and I, as your Governor, have all accepted to bury the hatchet and embrace peace and reconciliation in the best interest of our dear Rivers State.

6. We believe the political crisis is now behind us and that peace and stability have once again returned to Rivers State, though not without the hard lessons learnt from the emergency rule.

7. The responsibility now rests squarely on us: the Government, the State House of Assembly, political leaders and stakeholders to put aside our differences, work for the common good, and advance the interests of our people above all else. We have a duty to ensure that the peace we have all embraced remains permanent in our dear Rivers State.

8. On behalf of the Government and the good people of Rivers State, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. President for his fatherly disposition and decisive interventions in resolving the political crisis and for graciously restoring full democratic governance to our State.

9. Personally, I will never take Mr. President's kindness for granted, and for that, I hereby reaffirm my utmost loyalty and eternal gratitude.

10. To those who have expressed genuine fears, frustrations, and uncertainty over the nature of the peace process, I assure you that your concerns are valid and understood. However, nothing has been irretrievably lost; there remains ample opportunity for necessary adjustments, continued reconciliation, and inclusiveness. We must all remember the saying... " the costliest peace is cheaper than the cheapest war".

11. Accordingly, let us, therefore, embrace this moment as a fresh beginning. Let us work together with renewed hope and determination to build a stronger, more peaceful and prosperous Rivers State. I assure you that we will continuously work towards ensuring that we carry everyone along.

12. Despite the turbulence, you are aware of the credible milestones our administration achieved in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other key sectors over the last two years.

13. Our immediate responsibility is to return to the path of governance and development by completing the projects which we started by ensuring none of them is starved of funds or neglected, thereby reviving our economy, protecting lives and property, and improving the wellbeing of all Rivers people.

14. I commit to working harmoniously with the Rivers State House of Assembly to recover lost grounds and accelerate the social and economic advancement of our dear State. I also renew my pledge to serve with the fear of God, humility and a high sense of duty.

15. I wish to sincerely thank you, the resilient people of Rivers State, for your patience, courage, and peaceful conduct during the six months of emergency rule.

16. I also extend appreciation to all stakeholders, religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society groups, political actors, women groups, youths, concerned citizens at home and abroad, and well-wishers whose prayers and support sustained us through the challenging period.

17. Above all, let us draw strength from our shared identity as Rivers people. Our diversity is our greatest asset, and our unity the strongest guarantee of our future. We must rise above bitterness and division and channel our energies into rebuilding trust, fostering inclusiveness, and securing a peaceful and prosperous State for all.

18. Once again, I thank and appreciate our Father, Mr President, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for his timely intervention and dedication to ensuring the restoration of peace and stability in our State.

19. 1 also thank our Leader, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory for committing to the prompt resolution of the political impasse in the State.
20. I also wish to express my profound thanks to the President of the Senate His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, His Excellency Dr. Abbas Tajudeen; and the distinguished members of the National Assembly for the role they all played in the resolution of the matter.

21. I thank the Honourable Speaker and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, respected elders, stakeholders and all concerned citizens for working together to resolve our differences and ensuring peace and harmony in our State.

22. Finally, I call on all citizens of Rivers State, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation, to join hands in rebuilding our beloved State and securing a future of dignity and progress for everyone. In all, I give glory to the Almighty God.

Thank you all.

May God bless Rivers State and all its people.

May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

STATEMENT BY RIVERS WOMEN PRAYER GROUP ON SUNDAY, JUNE 29, 2025.

THIS PEACE MUST BE GENUINELY SUSTAINED TO REJUVENATE OUR STATE. WE MUST EMBRACE UNITY OF PURPOSE

In view of the ongoing resolution of the political rift in our State and the gradual coming to terms by our leaders, we, Rivers Women, under the aegis of Rivers Women Unite for SIM, most heartily commend their commitment to embracing peace and total reconciliation as we continue to ask for complete and speedy resolution of all disputes in the interest of the State.

It is important to call on our people to remain steadfast and to jettison every form of negative tendencies and ill-feelings towards the reconciliation and resolution as mediated by the President.

We are confident in the process and believe that it will bring lasting peace as one united family and one people with a shared vision of advancing our State.

It is our hope that we all adopt the time-tested principle of "no-victor-no-vanquished" to enable us move forward. Therefore, we must leave all that has transpired in the past to history and be more hopeful of the future by uniting as a people driven more by the interest of developing and moving our State forward.

Rivers Women Unite for SIM will continue to fervently pray, ardently supporting the peace process and the resolution of every impasse. Reconciliation and restoration of normalcy will remain our goal.

We must commend Mr. President for being a listening father and playing the fatherly role to facilitate the speedy resolution of the political impasse in our State. We are certain that in no distant time he will lift the emergency rule and restore all democratic institutions in the state.

We are also grateful to our leaders and stakeholders, especially Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike and members of the State House of Assembly for taking deep reflection on the issues and coming together to resolve their differences in the interest of the State and the people.

We will continue to pray for genuine and total healing of all followers of the leaders and people of Rivers State to ensure that this peace will be sustained and consolidated to the benefit of our dear State.

Thank you

FAKE NEWS ALERT

There has been a sinister propaganda making the rounds with the title “FUBARA GIVES HILDA DOKUBO N70M TO ORGANISE RALLY AGAINST TINUBU, WIKE” Ordinarily, we would have ignored as the reactions greeting the said article showed that Rivers people saw it for what it was - a poorly written and ill-conceived propaganda, it became pertinent to make this response for record sake.

The said propaganda was first posted by a notorious pseudo page Port Harcourt Force - a page that has relied on its anonymity to spread falsehood, blackmail, and propaganda. Further investigation revealed that this same article was distributed to social media blogs, and some bloggers were offered hundred thousand naira each to post and feature the story.

It’s on the above premise that we’ve deemed it necessary to notify the unsuspecting public of this propaganda being propagated by enemies of our state and to state that it is false and an imaginary creation of the author.

The Governor who is a man of peace, has countless times spoken against actions that further spread tension rather than create cohesion.

The said event being referenced occurred in Delta State and was unconnected to the Governor neither did their protests or demands have anything to do with the Governor.

The fake publication clearly shows the desperate ploy of some people to continually stoke the flames of discord and create problems where there are none.

We urge everybody of good conscience to be vigilant as we join hands in resisting actions that seek to undermine the peace we enjoy and the political stability we seek.

God Bless Rivers State

*STATE BROADCAST BY HIS EXCELLENCY, SIR SIMINALAYI FUBARA ON THE RECENT JUDGEMENT OF THE SUPREME COURT.*

My dear people of Rivers State

We are all aware of the recent Supreme Court judgments and pronouncements regarding aspects of the lingering political disputes in our dear State.

2. Although we disagree with the judgments, we are bound to obey the orders made therein as a law-abiding government.
3. Since inception, we have conducted the affairs of government within the framework of our constitution, due process and rule of law.
4. While we are not above mistakes because we are human, we believe that have not, as a government, done anything deliberate to trample on the rule of law or the hallowed principles of constitutional governance.
5. Accordingly, I have had a meeting with my team of lawyers and they have assured me that the certified true copy of the judgments may be available to them Friday March 7, 2025.
6. I assure you that upon the receipt of certified judgments, we shall study their ramifications and implement them without reservations to move the State forward.
7. Furthermore, given the outlawing of caretaker arrangements in the local government system, I hereby direct the Heads of Local Government Administration to immediately takeover the administration of the 23 Local Government Councils pending the conduct of fresh elections by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.
8. I further direct the outgoing local government Chairmen to formally hand over the levers of power to the Heads of Local Government Administration of the LGAs by Monday, March 3, 2025.
9. Although, our dear State seems to be back in trying times, I urge everyone to remain calm and peacefully go about with their legitimate daily activities as we continue to do everything in our power to advance our responsibilities to the citizens.
10. Thank you and God bless Rivers State.
