A sportsman, Phillip Ayobami, who was seen posing with a diminutive lady, Ruth Innocent, at the Bayelsa State orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps in photos that went viral on social media, has denied being in a relationship with her as she claimed.

Innocent had on March 14 posted photos showing her posing with a tall male colleague during their orientation programme as corps members in Bayelsa in 2021 and claiming that they fell in love with each other.

The photos were published by several online media while Facebook users congratulated her for finding love despite her small stature.

Lagos State Government has reopened Chrisland High School, Opebi branch for physical learning ahead of examinations.

The government shut down the school on March 3 following the death of a 12-year-old student, Whitney Adeniran.
Ms Adeniran died in February from electrocution during the school’s inter-house sports competition at Agege Stadium, according to an autopsy.

Sanwo-Olu, through the state Ministry of Education, said the school would remain shut to further interrogate the endangerment of students and others.

However, the state commissioner for education Folasade Adefisayo, in a statement on Monday evening, announced that the ministry has granted permission for students in terminal classes to access the school branch in Opebi to begin physical learning ahead of their examinations due to begin soon.

This is coming after parents begged the government to reopen the school.

Adefisayo said, “The school will remain closed until all necessary judicial processes superintended over by the State’s Ministry of Justice and other ongoing administrative inquests within the purview of the Office of Education Quality Assurance and other agencies are completed.”

She also hinted that arrangements are ongoing for other categories of students to return to school, adding that “the temporary permission to allow the terminal classes comprising JSS3 and SS3 students access to the school was granted to enable them to participate in their terminal examinations.”
