Governor Yusuf Resolves APC Kano North Senatorial Dispute, Gwarzo Withdraws Contest Against Barau

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has resolved the lingering political dispute within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano North Senatorial District after a series of meetings with party stakeholders.

This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The reconciliation effort received the intervention and support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The meetings led to a consensus arrangement between Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo (ATM) and Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin.

As part of the agreement reached, ATM Gwarzo officially withdrew his senatorial ambition in support of Senator Barau ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a formal withdrawal letter submitted to the party leadership, ATM Gwarzo reaffirmed his loyalty and commitment to the APC.

Speaking after the meeting, ATM Gwarzo described himself as a loyal party member who would always respect the collective decision of the party leadership.

He said he could not reject the appeal and intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

According to him, the three leaders worked tirelessly to ensure peace and consensus within the APC in Kano State.

Responding, Senator Barau said ATM Gwarzo had demonstrated maturity, respect and a strong sense of mutual understanding.

The Deputy Senate President assured that they would continue to work together for the unity and progress of the APC.

Governor Yusuf commended both leaders for showing sacrifice, understanding and commitment to the unity of the party.

He said the resolution would further strengthen the APC in Kano and across the country.

Earlier, Governor Yusuf had resolved the Kano Central Senatorial tussle where former Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, emerged as the APC consensu

PRESIDENT TINUBU ARRIVES IN KIGALI FOR THE AFRICA CEO FORUM

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of the 13th edition of the Africa CEO Forum, which begins on Thursday.

President Tinubu was received at the Presidential Wing of the Kigali International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and Rwanda’s Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda.

Others who came to receive the President included the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, the Nigerian Chargé d’Affaires in Rwanda, Ambassador Ibrahim Zanna and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare.

Founded in 2012 by Jeune Afrique Media and co-hosted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the forum has become the largest annual gathering of African private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers. It focuses on accelerating economic transformation through shared scale, regional integration, and increased cross-border investment.

The theme of this year’s forum is: “The Scale Imperative: Why Africa Must Embrace Shared Ownership.”

At the forum, President Tinubu will speak on “Holding the Line: Nigeria’s Reform Bet in a Fractured World,” highlighting the gains of sustaining Nigeria’s bold reforms, among other topics.

The President will also hold high-level bilateral meetings with top global and African business leaders while reaffirming Nigeria’s leadership role in shaping the continent’s future.

President Tinubu will use the occasion of the summit to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to advancing African unity, deepening regional economic cooperation, and fostering strategic partnerships to accelerate private sector-driven sustainable development across the continent.

It would be a great injustice for people like Celestine Omehia, Austin Opara, Lee Maeba, Uche Secondus, Abiye Sekibo, Anabs Sara-Igbe, and John Mbata to suddenly go quiet now that Siminalayi Fubara finds himself in political quicksand.

These were among the loudest voices that encouraged him to take on his political benefactor, Nyesom Wike. They cheered him on from the sidelines, emboldened every confrontation, and framed the battle as a fight for liberation and political independence. Now that the storm has intensified and the reality of power politics is setting in, this is hardly the time to disappear into the background.

You cannot lead a man to the slaughterhouse and abandon him there the moment he cries out for help. If they truly believe in the cause they sold to him, then this is the time to stand firmly beside him and prove their loyalty and political worth. At this point, perhaps the least they can do is help secure him the APC ticket too 😆🤣

Better yet, give him a guber ticket. Any ticket 😆 🤣
