Abuja Festival of Theatre: Celebrating African Life & Culture
In Africa, theatre is a traditionally ingrained and original part of the lifestyle and is now experiencing resurgence in Nigeria
Abuja, the Federal Capital of Nigeria, is one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa, and home to 2 Masks & a Griot Theatre Company (2MG), now the city’s premiere and most prolific theatre. As part of 2MG’s pioneering role in Abuja’s emerging arts community and creative culture, we present the Abuja Festival of Theatre (AFT).
The 2019 edition of Abuja Festival of Theatre (AFT 2019) is themed “Magic in African Theatre: Capturing Awe in Storytelling”. AFT 2019 will hold in the serene suburb of Asokoro, in the heart of the city from June 14 to 23, 2019.
The 10-day event will bring together professional African theatres, notable performers, universities and government for high-impact performances, exhibitions, workshops and panel discussions, culminating in a theatre awards ceremony and closing gala never witnessed in Nigeria before.
