STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT TINUBU ASSENTS TO NIGERIAN INSURANCE INDUSTRY REFORM BILL 2025 TO DRIVE FINANCIAL SECTOR TRANSFORMATION

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Bill, 2025—a landmark legislation to strengthen Nigeria's financial sector and accelerate the nation's march toward a $1 trillion economy.

The Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025 repeals and consolidates several outdated insurance laws into a single, modern legal framework. The new Act provides for comprehensive regulation and supervision of all insurance and reinsurance businesses operating within Nigeria.

This development reaffirms the administration's commitment to financial stability, economic development, and inclusive growth.

The NIIRA Act 2025 ushers in a new era of transparency, innovation, and global competitiveness for the insurance industry. It aligns with the Federal Government's vision of achieving a $1 trillion economy.

As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda for the Insurance Sector, the Act introduces critical measures such as:

1. Stringent capital requirements to ensure the financial soundness of operators;

2. Enforcement of compulsory insurance policies to enhance consumer protection;

3. Digitisation of the insurance market to improve access and efficiency;

4. Zero tolerance for delays in claims settlement;

5. Creation of dedicated policyholder protection funds, especially in cases of insolvency;

6. Expanded participation in regional insurance schemes, including the ECOWAS Brown Card System.

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) is mandated to administer and implement the provisions of the NIIRA 2025 in a manner that unlocks the industry's full potential and significantly improves insurance pe*******on across the country.

The reform introduced by the new law is expected to catalyse new investments, boost consumer confidence, and position Nigeria as a leading insurance hub in Africa.

Ìyá Rúkà elégbo.

My parents never taught me to complain or accept my state , I was taught to always have an alternative. Growing up, rice was never part of our daily meal time-table , one reason my best meal is beans.😂. It comes prepared in varieties of form and each will always satisfy the hunger. Is it when it is combined with dry garri , or soaked garri ? Or with pap? Or bread (yesterday's own)? I chose beans because rice only comes once a week and there is no fun with making it. It is always white rice and stew.
Our alternative to rice being consumed daily was "ègbo ìyá Rúkà". Her shop was theost visited every day , her daughter Rúkà became the envy of every young girl as she was the only girl on the street that attends to numerous male figure. While in secondary school Rúká was adoring the latest sandals being proceeds from Ègbo and 'boyfriends" . Rúkà was a big competition for Àbẹ̀bí ọmọ bàbá ẹlẹ́ran ìgbẹ́. Back to my story. Ègbo and ẹ̀wà was the staple food for all and sundry . We never thought about rice except on Sunday . Rice because the luxury food for almost all Christians as that is what we eat when we return from church.
This was the time , a bag of rice was less than ₦3000 and my dad was a banker. 😂. My guy have us an alternative, not that he can't afford it but what if he can't sustain it .
Make I no go into Rúkà and Àbẹ̀bí story for now. As at today, Ègbo has disappeared and the demand for rice has increased yet there is very low cultivation of rice in the state I reside in , hmmmm . I just believe in alternative. Try pap and puff puff instead of Rice 😂.

IGHANDO : The snake slayer. PART 1

"My name is IGHANDO. I am the bravest of my kind. They refer to me as the snake slayer because that's my everyday job. Our village , according to history was cursed during the civil war and since then it has been infested with all breeds of "blood sucking " reptiles. A lot of little children, animals etc have lost their lives until my great grandfather took it upon himself to avert the curse by being a snake slayer but unfortunately the same snake killed him. My grandfather did same but he never lasted . My own father didn't even go near such activities, yet he died of the bite of a poisonous snake. I took interest in this feat and I have since killed over 20,000 snakes in 5 years. I have developed strategy and action plans and it has since work. I have since moved to other slaying because if I seat alone to slay snake I might not raise a family. It was at one of my expedition I saw this beautiful 5"9 lady . Her eyes were screaming treasure, her beauty was like that of a goddess. Her b***s were shouting my name, her shape was marvellous. I ran to her like a lion who just saw a prey . I introduced my self but she walked away without altering a word. What! Me!? The Slayer. Even the queen doesn't dare walk away but I couldn't do anything because her walking away was like a damsel walking into the bedroom of her lover . ........ TO BE CONTINUED
