During the Liberian Civil War (1989–1990), an Igbo businessman, Emmanuel Chukwu, risked everything to save over 1,000 Nigerians trapped in Monrovia. Using his ships and personal wealth, he organized their evacuation amid bullets and chaos.

His heroism came at a high cost: his businesses were looted, his assets worth $89 million lost, and his younger brother killed.

After saving hundreds of lives, Emmanuel Chukwu returned to Nigeria forgotten.
Despite promises of assistance and recognition from the Nigerian government at the time, he remained unrecognized, even though he is a symbol of patriotism.

The wealthy man who once saved so many Nigerian lives came back home to live in silence and struggle. Sad 💔

BREAKING: Tragedy struck yesterday behind Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic as a fire engulfed a makeshift building, claiming the lives of two children.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in a room where a mother had reportedly left her four children while she stepped out to get items for the meal she was preparing. A candle left burning is believed to have triggered the incident.

Two of the children were asleep when the fire started, while the other two tried desperately to save them but were forced back by the intense heat. They escaped, but the younger ones, aged 8 and 6, tragically couldn’t make it out.

Neighbors also lost their homes in the inferno. Shockingly, some residents allegedly refused to assist the trapped children due to a prior disagreement with their mother—despite hearing the kids banging on the door and crying for help.

A heartbreaking and avoidable loss.

Pope Leo XIV has named Nigeria as one of several countries where Christians suffer discrimination and persecution.

The pope spoke in an X post on Sunday via his official account, stressing the need for peace as a heavenly virtue.

“In various parts of the world, Christians suffer discrimination and persecution. I think especially of Bangladesh, Nigeria, Mozambique, Sudan, and other countries from which we frequently hear of attacks on communities and places of worship,” he wrote.

The Nigerian senate has raised a bill to make the Armed forces (Army, Navy and Airforce) subject to civil rule and subject to every democratically appointed and elected officials like the, Governors and Ministers.

They want the senate to amend the Military law that give them that power to say, a military man is only answerable to his superior or the President only.

Omoku Community as part of its host community benefits had for decades enjoyed free electricity supply through a Corporate Social Responsibility arrangement while Agip Oil Company was still in charge.

OANDO bought over Agip and have now notified the town of their desire to return the community to paid electricity subscription.
