Migration, especially illegal migration, has become one of the survival routes for many young people across Africa.
Yes, it is now a serious issue of concern, and to be honest, it deserves urgent attention.
Many of these young people face unimaginable hardship, crossing dangerous deserts, thick forests, and hostile borders just for a chance at survival in another country.
In these countries, many take on difficult jobs, struggle through exploitation, and sometimes even drift into crime just to survive and support the families they left behind.
To an extent, I understand why countries like South Africa and others are concerned about illegal immigration.
Every country has a right to protect its borders and enforce its laws.
But one thing many fail to understand is that these migrants are not the real enemy.
The real enemy is poverty, inequality, poor leadership, lack of education, and the lingering poison of a divide-and-rule system that taught Africans to eat each other while the real thieves eat the continent.
I just wish the youths of this continent would wake up, not through violence, hatred, or division, but through awareness, accountability, unity, and the courage to start demanding better governance and a future worth staying for.
