Society’s Treatment of the Male and Female Child
The way society treats children is often shaped by long-standing cultural beliefs and stereotypes. Unfortunately, these attitudes have created an imbalance in how boys and girls are perceived, leading to unfair treatment of both genders in different ways.
On one hand, the male child is often placed under heavy expectations. From childhood, boys are told to be strong, independent, and fearless. Society discourages them from showing emotions, and any sign of weakness is considered unacceptable. This pressure robs them of their freedom to express themselves naturally and sometimes creates long-term emotional struggles. In this sense, it can be said that society is against the male child because it denies him the chance to grow without restrictions.
On the other hand, the female child faces the challenge of being easily judged. In many communities, a girl’s behavior, choices, and even appearance are closely monitored and criticized. A mistake made by a girl is often remembered and condemned more harshly than if the same mistake were made by a boy. This constant judgment places limitations on her freedom, her opportunities, and her ability to pursue her ambitions without fear of criticism.
It is clear that both boys and girls suffer from societal bias, though in different ways. The male child carries the burden of unrealistic expectations, while the female child is weighed down by harsh judgment. For a healthier society, it is important to treat all children equally, allowing them the space to express themselves and reach their full potential without prejudice.
