SYNOPSIS
THIS IS A SYNOPSIS PLUS..!!
A satirical appreciation of our common behavioural pattern and character as a people.
"Wetin dey happen" is my deliberate reflection of the Nigerian public life and the prevalent behavioural attitude of our society and people.
The programme is a thirty minutes public enlightenment(weekly) programme on RSTV where I served as a broadcast journalist,programme compere,producer and content creator for close to thirty years of my career in the media.
The programme comically provided a strong critic platform to work towards redirecting the common evils of the Nigerian public life towards building a better acceptable cultural,lawful and veritable standards in our common life and behaviour.
Deliberately packaged in special(pidgin English)language the programme reaches out to all crannies of the society and people.
"WETIN DEY HAPPEN" today would provide yet a corner to look at our dying cultural and traditional values as a people to enable us reset a focus towards creating a more acceptable life pattern building more on our strong value system that is obviously giving way to the rapidly eroding misdemeanor and craftiness that is now evading every aspect of our public behaviour and lawful order across all facets of the Nigerian society and people.
I hopefully trust that even as strong as our cultural values are invaded today we can still turn off or throw away our dirty leanings for a better public order for our society.
I must remember the indefatigable support and drive as was provided by the then(General Manager of RSTV)Mrs.Sienne Razzak Lawal who defied the possible interference of the military administration of Lt.Col.Dauda Musa Komo and other successive military administrations in the state at the time to plan for the creation,support production and "enthronement" of such a very critical satire that even evaluated the actions and inactions of the state and Federal governments on RSTV and also powered it to attract the kind of viewership and value the programme achieved beyond Rivers State and across a number of other states..!!
I must as well commend her great sense of vision to have lately brought in my colleague and brother the veteran emeritus late Mr.Boma Erekeosima of blessed memory from the radio to compliment the spreading acceptance of the programme by including his unprecedented entertainment and "comic charm"on radio and television at the time.
I am also indebted to my late cousin Mr.Idakoru Boyle whose creativity and critical attitude continually challenged me and those great artists to endlessly source for new happenings to capture the minds and hearts of our people for reformation and a better public order without any pains or forceful persuasion.
Why..."WETIN dey happen" again..?
Simply speaking it would be near too much for me to proudly announce that I am bringing the same "content" of the programme back on social media as some of my key patriots may have been "lost"..!!
However this production will only(for now)give you the messages as shall be chosen with me still as the compere in Pidgin/Special English as shall be designed.
The truth is that this times have so requested and demanded of me to do so....and I promise now...that with your support we can join to speak satirically to the many hearts of our people,more especially those who didn't experience that determined efforts of ours to right the many ills of the time and the society during those years of early 1990s.
