The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man for allegedly thr£atening Peter Obi following an att@ck on him in Benin, Edo state.

Last Tuesday, Yunusa Tanko, national coordinator of the Obidient movement, reported that Obi & some leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were att@cked at the residence of party chieftain John Odigie-Oyegun.

Shortly after the incident, a social media user, Udeme Stephen, allegedly claimed responsibility for the att@ck on his X account () & thr£atened further vi%lence against Obi, including during a planned trip to Rivers state. In his post, Stephen said Obi was “lucky” to survive the Edo att@ck & warned that his men would “handle” him in Rivers state.

A security source confirmed that DSS operatives quickly launched a covert investigation, using forensic tools to trace the suspect to Rivers state, where he works as a teacher at Jessica High School in Eliozu, Obio-Akpor LGA. The 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested and is now in DSS custody.

56-year-old man sentenced to 60 years in jail for d+filing a 9-year-old child

A High Court sitting in Orereokpe has sentenced a 56-year-old man identified as Mr Collins, to 60 years imprisonment with hard labour for d+filing a 9-year-old child in 2023.

Reports have it that the incident occurred in Ugolo, a community in Delta State. Following the trial, the court also ordered the convict to pay ₦50 million in compensation to the victim.

It was further gathered that during the course of the case, the convict allegedly attempted to bribe activist Israel Joe with ₦111,000 to drop the matter.

However, the bribe was rejected & handed over to the police in Orereokpe. Israel Joe was said to have continued monitoring the case to ensure that justice was pursued.

The judgment was delivered on February 25, 2026, bringing the legal proceedings to a close. Local radio stations announced the verdict on Wednesday morning, drawing reactions from members of the public who expressed relief that the case had been concluded.

Uyo Court Sentences Pastor To D+ath For K+lling Landlord Over Property Dispute.

An Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo has sentenced 29-year-old living faith resident pastor, Prince Emmanuel Umoh, to d+ath by h@nging for the m¥rder of his landlord, Gabriel Bassey Edward, following a dispute linked to property access, missing items, and rent issues.

Justice Gabriel Ette ruled that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the pastor st@bbed Edward, a 500-level Civil Engineering student of the University of Uyo who later graduated posthumously with First Class honours.

Evidence showed the deceased had moved into his late mother’s property at Ifa Ikot Ubo, where a hall was rented out for worship. Umoh, posted there as pioneer pastor, was granted access to store church items in the victim’s flat and later received a spare key.

After valuables belonging to the deceased’s late mother went missing, suspicion fell on the pastor, who claimed he lost the key. The locks were eventually changed. Tension later developed over rent meant for property repairs.

On December 21, 2020, neighbours heard screams of “Jesus” from the compound. The pastor was seen leaving in a bl%odstained garment, claiming he had fallen. Edward’s d+composing body was discovered days later in his room, wrapped in a mat with multiple st@b wounds, and a kn+fe found nearby.

In a judgment lasting over two hours, Justice Ette described the act as appalling, stressing that life is sacred and condemning the betrayal of public trust. He concluded by sentencing Umoh to d+ath by hanging.

INEC also outlined campaign windows for political parties. Campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections will run from November 18, 2026, to February 19, 2027. Governorship and State Assembly campaigns will begin on December 15, 2026, and end on March 5, 2027 — 24 hours before the elections.

As part of preparations, Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will commence in April 2026 and close in January 2027, allowing eligible Nigerians time to register or update their details.

Political parties are expected to conduct primaries between July 1 and September 30, 2026. Submission of candidates’ lists to INEC will take place from October 1 to October 31, 2026, while the final list of candidates will be published on November 15, 2026.

Ten people, including the suspected g¥nman, have been confirmed d+ad following a mass sh%%ting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby home in British Columbia.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said six victims were found inside the school, while another d+ed on the way to hospital. Two more bodies were discovered at a residence believed to be connected to the att@ck. The suspected sh%%ter was also found d+ad with what police described as a “self-inflicted inj¥ry.”

According to the police, two individuals were airlifted to hospital with serious or life-threatening inj¥ries, and about 25 others were treated for non-life-threatening inj¥ries at a local medical centre. All remaining students and staff were safely evacuated.

Police described the situation as involving an “active sh%%ter” and confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Authorities have not released details about the suspect’s identity, the victims, or the w£apon used as the RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues its probe.

Rivers police arrest suspect over k+lling of 25-year-old woman after collecting N210k ransom

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old suspect, Goodnews Iberi, in connection with the kidn+pping and k+lling of a 25-year-old woman, Rita Eleonu. Iberi, who is from the Rumuakunde community in Emohua Local Government Area, was apprehended after investigations into Eleonu’s disappearance.

The victim was said to be from the Rumuekini community in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. According to the police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspect and his accomplices allegedly lured the woman to a forest along the Emohua axis of the East–West Road, where the cr+me was committed.

The police said the gang later contacted the victim’s family and demanded a ransom. A sum of ₦210,000 was reportedly paid in the hope of securing her release. However, unknown to the family, the suspects had already k+lled the woman and b¥ried her in a shallow grave in the forest.

Iberi was arrested at his hideout in the early hours of January 8, 2026. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the cr+me and led officers to the location where the victim’s remains were recovered.

At the live broadcast of today’s Impeachment Sitting of the Rivers State House of Assembly, something very revealing happened.

The two television stations contracted to air the proceedings — TVC and Channels TV — went live with two completely different captions.

Why?

From credible investigation, both stations were earlier informed that the lawmakers intended to host Minister Nyesom Wike at their so-called emergency sitting.

TVC, which went on air first, therefore displayed a caption reflecting that briefing.

Channels TV, which started transmission later, used a different caption based only on what was unfolding at that moment.

That single contradiction exposes the truth.

It means Minister Wike was not only expected — he was actually present in the chamber and overseeing the impeachment process.

The captions didn’t just mismatch.

They exposed the script behind the sitting.

A bag of rice jumped from ₦8,000 to over ₦100,000. Now, they want us to be very grateful to Mr Tinubu because it currently sells for ₦52,000 - ₦60,000.

A bag of beans moved from ₦20,000 - ₦25,000 to peak at around ₦200,000. Dem say we suppose dey thank Mr. Bola for the new price at ₦120,000 - ₦140,000. Hunger has suddenly become normalised.

Local flight tickets moved from under ₦50,000 to ₦400,000+. Local travel is now a privilege.

A 50cl soft drink moved from ₦100 to ₦400 - ₦550, a small reminder of how everyday life became expensive.

A 5kg bag of semovita climbed from ₦3,000 to ₦8,000 - ₦10,000, proof that staples were not spared.

Minimum wage rose from ₦18,000 to ₦70,000. But before you chuckle, check with their respective purchasing powers.

The naira crashed from ₦160 per dollar to ₦1,500. We should be grateful to Mr. Strategist that it hasn't reached ₦3,000.

Federal university fees moved from ₦40,000+ to ₦200,000 - ₦300,000+, quietly pushing the poor out of public education.

Your favourite feature phones rose from ₦2,500 to ₦10,000 - ₦20,000, Basic smartphones now cost ₦100,000 - ₦200,000+. You can't even dare to replace your lost or damaged phone immediately anymore.

Flagship smartphones moved from ₦100,000+ to ₦1.5 million - ₦2.5 million, in a country where minimum wage barely buys food.

Insecurity expanded from Boko Haram to ISIS/ISWAP, banditry, and kidnapping. The news of the killing of colonels and army generals is no more a shock to anyone.

Federal appointments shifted from nominating the living to nominating the dead, even long after they are dead!

People of God, what specifically did Jonathan destroy that the duo of Buhari and Tinubu have restored?

Economy? National Dignity? Security? Education? Welfare? Infrastructure? National Assets?
