SHE TIED HER BABIES TO A ROPE… THEN JUMPED INTO A POOL.
An 8-month-old baby.
A 2-year-old toddler.
A 3-year-old child.
All tied together.
All tied to their mother.
Then she jumped into the deep end.
Authorities say before it happened, 31-year-old Shaniece Julicia Willingham went live on Instagram and told viewers she couldn’t do it anymore. She reportedly said her children would be “safer with God.”
Just hours earlier, she had allegedly argued with the children’s father. Reports say she had also been told to leave her mother’s home and had reached out for help.
Then came a decision that nearly ended four lives.
According to investigators, Shaniece drove to a community pool on Sacramento Street, wrapped a rope around herself and her three children, and entered the water.
Family members watching the livestream immediately rushed to the scene.
Those babies were reportedly underwater for nearly a minute.
By the grace of God… every one of them survived. 💔
Shaniece is now facing three counts of first-degree premeditated attempted murder and is being held without bond.
Reports indicate she had a documented history of bipolar disorder, multiple Baker Act interventions, and struggles with postpartum depression.
And while nothing excuses what happened to those children, there is a conversation society keeps avoiding:
How many mothers are breaking down in plain sight while everyone assumes they’re okay?
How many are carrying the children, the bills, the trauma, the exhaustion, the sleepless nights, and the emotional weight of an entire household with nobody asking if they’re surviving?
These babies deserved protection.
But somewhere before this horrific night, a mother was drowning too.
