Someone called me this morning screaming those exact words into my phone!

I had to do my thorough research online immediately to find out what was actually going on.

And here's exactly what's happening:

FIFA is not selling the FIFA World Cup. Instead, it is reportedly considering selling a 20% stake in a new commercial Company [called FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE)] that would manage some of the tournament's business and commercial rights.

The goal is to raise about $4.2 billion from investors, while FIFA would still own the remaining 80% and continue to control the World Cup itself.

The proposal has already sparked debate, with some football leaders arguing that bringing private investors into the commercial side of the World Cup could change the future of the sport.

So, the World Cup isn't being soldβ€”but part of the business behind it may soon have outside investors.

This is turning into one of the biggest political battles football has seen in years because UEFA is absolutely disagreeing with FIFA.

UEFA is challenging the entire idea of opening up the World Cup's commercial business to private investors and is threatening to declare a boycott if FIFA goes ahead with it's plan.

This is huge!

The message is essentially:
"Football is not a company to be sold piece by piece."

If the disagreement escalates, it could become one of the biggest power struggles between FIFA and UEFA since the European Super League saga.
