In the tradition I was born into, we were taught to say things exactly as they are.
If you are broke, say you are broke.
If you are sick, say you are sick.
If you do not admire someone, say so plainly.
That honesty brought peace.
Everyone knew their limits and boundaries.
Help came easily, because your brethren knew when you truly needed help.

Then a new teaching arrived.
If you are broke, say you are rich.
If you are sick, say you are fine.
If you are weak, say you are strong.
And if you do not like someone, never say it.

After careful reflection, I remain convinced: my traditional teaching is better.

It is rooted in truth, clarity, and communal responsibility—
not in pretence, manipulation, or self-deception disguised as faith or positivity.

Truth may be uncomfortable,
but it heals.

Ini Edo in tears as CAN moves to halt her movie nationwide

Nollywood star Ini Edo is facing mounting pressure from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over her latest film, originally titled A Very Dirty Christmas.

Following public outcry led by Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has asked the production team to modify the film’s title, describing it as offensive and disrespectful to the Christian faith.

A visibly emotional Ini Edo has addressed the controversy, explaining that the title was metaphorical, referring to the hidden secrets and family drama in the story — not Christmas itself.

The film, which premiered in cinemas on December 16, is now under review as the NFVCB works with the producers to change the title and de-escalate tensions.

“If I had known the title ‘A Very Dirty Christmas’ would cause a problem, I would have changed it. CAN, I am sorry. I never meant to insult or disgrace Christians. I am a Christian too. I put my sweat and my blood into this movie. We promoted the movie for such a long time. If at any point anybody had said anything, we wouldn’t have gone on with it. We’re all Christians in the team. We prayed and reverenced God.”she said.

‎During the wedding, the DJ played a song that sounded secular, and Apostle Edu cautioned him not to do that. He even said who brought him, lol 😂, Immediately, people started talking, he’s too righteous, too extreme, why shout at the DJ, the song isn’t even worldly, and all that.

‎Fast-forward to 2025, Dr. Chris Okafor had his wedding and played Davido and other secular songs. Now people are also talking why would a pastor play secular music at his wedding?

But truth be told.
