As April ends, happy to mark this DONE. Back in early February, when I shared this goal with a group of ladies who attended a strategy session with me organized by Veronica's Daughter , I wasn’t sure I’d meet it. (See screenshot from that day below)

But I knew I needed to act

Before all that

I had no publishing deal. No marketing team. No safety net.

But I had clarity. And I had a message that wouldn’t leave me alone.

So I stopped waiting for permission.

I published the book

I launched Done Over Perfect with my own two hands, my own voice, and my full heart.

This journey stretched me.

It taught me to build before I feel ready.

To trust momentum over perfection.

To communicate with clarity

To build systems that carry your story even when you’re not in the room.

And yes, the book found the people it was meant for.

But more importantly?

It reminded me who I am.

A builder. A communicator. A systems thinker.

Someone who can take a messy idea, give it structure, and launch it into the world with integrity.

If you’re building something that matters, I see you.

Keep showing up, even before it’s perfect.

The year was 2012, I missed a crucial interview.
Walked into a random building with my CV.

Got interviewed at the canteen. And somehow became a sports journalist without knowing jack about sports.

Read one of the wild, honest stories from Done Over Perfect, my personal journey through missed chances, bold moves, and the messy magic of showing up anyway.

If you’ve ever felt unqualified, uncertain, or undone… this book is your sign to keep going.

When others try to replicate what you’ve done, don’t panic. It only highlights the intention, excellence, and creativity you poured in. The difference speaks for itself. Loud and clear.

How can I get the hard copy in Lagos? The one question I keep getting since Done Over Perfect launched.

Lagos is calling… and I’m honestly so moved.

So here’s the good news

👉There’ll be a dispatch to Lagos this Friday.👈

If you want your copy included, now is the time to place your order.

Your love for this message is humbling. It reminds me why I wrote this book.

A wake-up call
To start now
To stop hiding
To do it afraid
To execute first, refine as you grow

Let’s keep choosing progress over perfection. Always.

I’ll be moderating a timely conversation hosted by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) this morning.

It’s one that asks the tough but necessary questions.

How do we fund investigative journalism locally?

What models can actually work in our context, not just in theory but in practice?

Joining the discussion are:
• Kadaria Ahmed, CEO, RadioNow 95.3FM
• Joshua Olufemi, Founder, Dataphyte
• Theophilus Abbah, Programme Director, Daily Trust Foundation

Date: Tuesday, 15 April 2025
Time: 11:00 AM
Venue: X Spaces

If you work in media, or care about how stories get told or want to see journalism grow beyond donor dependency then this is worth showing up for.
