José "Pepe" Mujica — The World's Poorest President

Today I honor the life and legacy of José Mujica, former president of Uruguay, who passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 89. He was famously known as "the world's poorest president" — not because he lacked wealth, but because he chose a life of simplicity, humility, and service.

Instead of living in the presidential palace, Mujica stayed on his small farm, drove a beat-up Volkswagen Beetle, and donated 90% of his salary to charity. He believed that true leadership meant living like the people you serve.

Under his presidency (2010–2015), Uruguay became a global example of progressive values, legalizing same-sex marriage, ma*****na, and abortion, and embracing social justice for all.

Pepe Mujica showed the world that dignity, honesty, and compassion are worth more than riches. A true leader of the people — may his legacy live on.

DON'T SAY YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO BALANCE CHEMICAL EQUATION

To balance a chemical equation, follow these steps:

📌 Write the unbalanced equation with reactants on the left and products on the right.
📌 Count the number of atoms of each element on both sides.
📌 Add coefficients (numbers in front of formulas) to balance the atoms.
📌 Check that the number of atoms of each element is equal on both sides.

Example: Balancing the equation for the combustion of methane (CH4)

Unbalanced equation: CH4 + O2 → CO2 + H2O

📌 Count atoms:
- C: 1 (reactant) = 1 (product)
- H: 4 (reactant) ≠ 2 (product)
- O: 2 (reactant) ≠ 3 (product)

📌 Add coefficients:
- CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O

📌 Recount atoms:
- C: 1 = 1
- H: 4 = 4
- O: 4 = 4

The balanced equation is: CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O

This process ensures that the law of conservation of mass is obeyed, meaning the number of atoms of each element is conserved during the reaction.

The velvet mite is a walking tank… powered by hunger and blood.

You’ll spot them after rain — bright red, slow-moving, and coated in fine velvet hairs.
But don’t be fooled by the softness.

Velvet mites are parasitoids as larvae — they latch onto grasshoppers, beetles, and spiders to feed on their blood.
Once grown, they become hunters, feeding on insect eggs and small arthropods.

They store up so much energy during youth…
that some never need to eat again after reaching adulthood.

One childhood. One feeding frenzy.
Then silence.
