I’ve had an email list of over 10,000 subscribers for a while now, but recently, I decided it was time to go serious with email marketing not just for clients, but for myself too.

So, I began my setup.
Got my Alibaba Cloud Access, linked it with Mail Mint on my WordPress site, and everything looked fine
 until the drama started.

None of my test emails were going through.
At first, I thought it was a configuration issue until I found out the real reason:
DigitalOcean blocks all mail ports on their droplet.

They even sent an email telling me to use SendGrid, their “official partner.”
But the whole point of setting up my personal email system was to cut costs, not add new ones.

So I went back to my keyboard, rolled up my sleeves, and built a different route one that bypasses the restrictions completely.
(No, I’m not explaining how I did it here 😌)

And guess what? It worked.

Before You Buy That Laptop, Read This (7)

Because the things you forget are the things that’ll stress you later.

You’ve checked the RAM. You’ve asked for the processor.
But wait did you check the graphics card, ports, or operating system?
That’s where most people get scammed quietly.

1. Dedicated Graphics Card: Where the Real Power Hides

Not every laptop that says “Core i7” is powerful.
Some of them are just fine boys with no future.

If you’re a designer, video editor, 3D artist, or gamer,
you need a dedicated graphics card (GPU) that’s what makes your visuals smooth and your edits fast.

If you see names like NVIDIA GeForce GTX/RTX or AMD Radeon RX, that’s the real deal.

If all it says is Intel UHD or Iris Xe, that’s integrated light work only.

2. Ports: The Small Things That Make a Big Difference

Let me tell you ports don’t look important until the day you can’t connect your flash drive.

You’ll be at a presentation, full of confidence,
then realize your laptop has only one USB port.

Before you buy, check for:
✅ USB-A and USB-C (at least two)
✅ HDMI (for connecting to screens and projectors)
✅ SD card slot (creators, don’t joke with this one)
✅ Headphone jack (yes, still matters)
✅ Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.x (for faster wireless connection)

3. Operating System: The Silent Deal Breaker

This one is where most people act confused.
They just buy whatever the seller suggests. Don’t do that.

A. Windows: Best for beginners, freelancers, and all-rounders. Works with almost everything.
B. macOS: Best for designers, editors, and people who love the Apple ecosystem.
C. Linux: For the tech builders, developers, cybersecurity folks, programmers.

On this note, This before you buy a laptop series comes to an end.

I do hope reading all this, you can finally make the right choice when it comes to buying a laptop in 2025 and beyond.

Dear Young Person here,

If you’re looking for legitimate ways to earn good money online, stop chasing shortcuts.
Start building sense and skill.

Here’s the real formula that works every single time:

Be knowledgeable
Get a skill
Get experience and make yourself visible
Be patient and learn marketing

There’s no magic hack. It’s always going to be a process.

You can go from earning $200 a month to $1,200, and eventually $10K but only if you equip yourself and stay consistent.

The internet will change your story,
but only after you change your mindset.

Before You Buy That Laptop, Read This (6)

I remember when I bought a laptop that said “Up to 10 hours battery life.”

I was so proud. I charged it overnight, ready to enjoy my day.

By 2 hours in, the laptop was already begging for the charger.
That’s when I realized something important what’s written on the box and what happens in real life are not the same thing.

Let’s talk about how to actually know a laptop’s real battery life before you buy it.

1. Don’t believe the sticker. Check the reviews.

That “10 hours” claim is usually tested in perfect lab conditions low brightness, Wi-Fi off, and no apps running.

Real life is different. You’ll have Chrome open, Canva running, background music playing, maybe editing photos.
That’s why you should always go to YouTube or Google and search:

> Laptop name + battery life review

You’ll see what users are getting in real-world use.

2. Check the battery capacity (Wh or mAh).

Every laptop battery has a number Wh (watt-hour) or mAh (milliamp-hour).
The higher the number, the longer it should last.

Rough idea:

35 Wh → small battery

50–60 Wh → average

70 Wh + → solid battery

So before you pay, simply ask the seller:

> “What’s the battery capacity on this model?”

If they don’t know, you already have your answer.

3. Know your processor type.

The processor inside affects how long the battery lasts.

U-series chips (like Intel Core i5-1235U) are built for better battery life.

H-series chips (like Intel Core i7-12700H) are built for performance but drain faster.

If you move around a lot or work remotely, go for the U-series.
If you do heavy work like editing or gaming, the H-series makes sense.

4. For used laptops, check the battery health.

If you’re buying a UK-used or fairly used system, always test the battery before paying.

On Windows:

1. Press Windows + R → type cmd → press Enter.

2. In the black window, type:
powercfg /batteryreport

3. It’ll save a report showing battery health and cycles.

On Mac:

1. Click the Apple logo at the top left.

2. Select About This Mac â€ș System Report â€ș Power.

3. You’ll see Cycle Count and Condition that tells you how healthy the battery is.

If the battery health is below 80%, expect shorter life.

I hope you learned something new.

Before You Buy That Laptop, Read This (4)

You’ve checked the brain, the memory, the screen, the graphics

Now we’re onto the foundation. Because a laptop that looks good but falls apart, lacks ports, or dies at 30% after one hour is pain.

Let’s break down: Build Quality · Ports · Battery Life 👇

1. Build Quality: What It Feels (and Survives)

You’re not just buying specs, you’re buying a companion.
If it creaks, flexes, or heats up too fast that’s a red flag.

Material:

Metal or aluminium = premium + durable.

Plastic = lighter, cheaper, but less tough.

Keyboard & Hinge:
Type for hours? Make sure the keys respond nice and the hinges don’t wobble.
Your fingers will spend more time here than the screen.

Weight & Portability:
If you move around often: under ~1.8kg is comfortable.
If it’s heavier and you don’t carry it, that’s wasted money.

Cooling & Heat Management:
Even a clean lid looks luxurious if it screams under load. Good build = good airflow.

2. Ports & Connectivity: Your Plug-In Life

You’ll realise too late: “Oh, there’s only one USB-C and no HDMI.”
Don’t buy regret. Buy flexibility.

Key ports to check:

USB-A and USB-C (for drives, phones, dongles)

HDMI or DisplayPort (for extra monitors)

SD/micro-SD card slot (for creators)

3.5mm headphone jack (yes, still needed!)

Good WiFi & Bluetooth (look for WiFi 6/6E + BT 5.x)

3. Battery Life: The Energy That Runs Your Hustle

Specs say “Up to 10 hours” but real life often says “I died at 4 hours.”
Let’s bridge that gap.

Wh (Watt-hour) / mAh rating:
Higher means more potential runtime.
But also check reviews for real-world numbers.

Battery Health (for used/refurb laptops):
On Windows: run powercfg /batteryreport to check design capacity vs full charge capacity.

Whom it’s for:

For travel/remote work: aim for 6-8 hours minimum, 9+ is better.

For heavy work (editing/gaming): you’ll accept lunch break charger.

I do hope you learned something.
