These miscreants have nothing to lose due to the substance they abuse and most times they are under the influence, so they can do anything to get hold of one's phone or gadgets.
They usually profile isolated, lonely victims to attack; this is so because they are vulnerable at the moment. In order to feed their habits, they can do anything.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE AROUND SUCH MENTIONED AREAS.
1) If you are driving & in slow-moving traffic, ensure your car window glasses are fully rolled up completely.
2) Ensure valuables are kept out of sight (iPads, laptops, bags be kept in the boot).
3) if you must charge your phone, keep it in the glove compartment or on the floor under your feet.
4) If you're on foot, discipline yourself not to hold your phone in your hand anything from 6pm upward put your phone on silent or vibration.
5) Discourage usage of earpiece during certain hours, 6pm upward at the aforementioned areas, as you are a red flag for attack.
