Reality Check

I saw a post from a young lady who graduated yesterday. She shared her excitement online with the caption, "Finally, tears of joy." Sadly, just a few hours later, she returned to her Lord.

There was no warning, no prolonged illness and no accident. She reportedly slumped while celebrating with her friends and passed away.

Wallahi, this news has been on my mind ever since. I did not know her personally, yet my heart aches for her family, friends and everyone who loved her.

Life is truly fragile. We make plans, celebrate milestones, and look forward to tomorrow, yet our appointed time remains known only to Allah.

May Allah forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her soul, grant her Jannatul Firdaus and give her family the strength and patience to bear this loss. Ameen.

A reminder to all of us: prepare for the Hereafter as sincerely as we prepare for this world, for no one knows when their final moment will arrive.

Today she was celebrating her achievement; a few hours later, people were mourning her departure. Such is the reality of this dunya.

May Allah grant us all a good ending (ḥusnul khātimah). Aameen.

Changing the Narrative:

I was at a public school recently to conduct an assessment. The hall we were meant to use was messy while the students were already seated for the examination. I asked a student to clean the table I would use, while the registrar instructed some girls to tidy up the hall.

As the girls got up, they called on a boy (one of the candidates) to assist them. His response shocked me. He said, “Boys don’t sweep. It is the responsibility of girls.”

I genuinely could not ignore such a statement, so I asked him to repeat himself. He tried to laugh it off, yet repeated the same thing. I immediately told the girl to hand the broom over to him so he could sweep the hall. He hesitated and almost refused, but I stood my ground.

I told him that if he believes it is “women’s work,” then he should at least experience what he looks down on.

Honestly, who is raising these children?

Imagine a teenager already carrying such a mindset. One can only pity his future partner if that mentality is not corrected early.

Cleaning is not gender-based responsibility; it is basic responsibility. Every human being should know how to tidy the space they use.

We really need to do better with the values we pass down to children.

If it was you what would you do?

Do people still use ATM machines??? 🤔

How time flies....

I remember those days we would wake up early just to queue at the ATM point. There was never a time the ATM stand wasn’t crowded, either “no cash,” “network issue,” or the banks doing shakara before loading money. 😂

Now I walk past some ATM points and they look completely deserted.

I would laugh at karma, except some people’s livelihood still depends on it.

Life changes fast. What was once heavily needed can suddenly become almost irrelevant.

Don’t be like an ATM machine, don’t become so available that people stop valuing your presence. (Read between the lines).

Hajj Mabroor to those who have been fortunate before now and to those blessed to answer the call this year. 🤍

I cannot explain the heaviness in my heart whenever I see people leaving for Hajj or Umrah while I remain behind. Yaa Rabb… please call me too. 🥺

How? When? Only You know best, Yaa Rahman. But please, make it soon. The longing hurts deeply. I watch videos of pilgrims departing and my heart whispers, “Please take me along.”

You know what rests in my chest better than I do. I leave it to You with hope, tears, and certainty that Your invitation comes at the most perfect time.

Hajj Mabroor to all pilgrims.
