Blood On The Throne
In a city torn by conflict's strife,
A season of pain, a time of life.
Smoke and teargas linger in the air,
The stench of smoke and sweat fills the streets
Innocent lives lost, a brutal cry,
The constant rattle of gunfire,
a discordant beat,
Echoes of questions, with no reply
Echoes of resilience from the blood on the throne.
Two groups clash, in power's quest,
Forgetting the value of human breast.
Kinsmen at war, a family's pain,
Families huddle in fear, their eyes wide with worry,
Echoes of questions, with no reply again.
The choices we make, lead to pain and strife,
Corpses in streets, a morgue overfilled life,
The sound of wretched sobbing, a mournful sigh.
A city in fear, its people unfulfilled.
The constant rattle of gunfire, a discordant beat,
Fear and uncertainty take flight.
King Lateef, once revered, now bent and worn,
Scourged by hands- that once were sworn,
Hoodlums' rage, a brutal display,
Monarch's pride, in disarray.
His once-regal robes now tattered like kite
His eyes sunken with sorrow
The weight of his people's suffering
bears down on him, a heavy burden
Oh!, my beautiful kingdom
Once peaceful city of Ado-Odo, eclipsed by greed,
Where leaders' ambitions sow seeds of need
The people suffer, their voices unheard,
As reason yields to madness, uncurbed.
Their cries for justice, a desperate whisper in the wind,
Their placards, a sea of frowning faces,
A testament to their latest frustration.
King Muniru flees, his kingdom in flames,
Exile's bitter taste, a monarch's shame,
War's cruel hand, forces him to roam, Seeking refuge, a foreign home,
A throne lost, a future unknown.
Fear now reigns, in lieu of a new KING
With guns aglow,
A city on edge, in a state of woe.
People cede their homes, their lives in flight,
As war and violence take their toll tonight.
