Just In: Fubara Outsmart Wike, Amewhuele appoint new SAs to function as commissioners
While Nyesom Wike and Speaker Martins Amaewhule were reportedly waiting for Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Rivers State House of Assembly for the submission of a commissionersโ list, the governor made a bold constitutional move. Instead, he exercised his executive powers and appointed six Special Advisers (SAs) to oversee and coordinate activities in the affected ministries.
Politics is not about noise or threats; itโs about strategy and timing. Governor Fubara has shown that he is prepared for the political chess game unfolding in Rivers State. As the saying goes, once beaten, twice shy.
Sources close to the Presidency insist that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully aware of the situation and does not support any impeachment move against Fubara. In fact, the impeachment talk has gone cold, as any such action would amount to insubordination,
especially after earlier constitutional manipulations were reversed to allow lawmakers return to office.
Now, the focus has shifted to 2027 and party tickets.
Meanwhile, within the APC, insiders say the upcoming congress will position Fubara as the partyโs leader in Rivers State, with the backing of the national leadership. Like it or not, he is set to call the shots.
Let them keep shouting. Power, they say, speaks quietly.
